HighRoad Hotel

I stayed here for a vacation at the end of March. I stayed in the all female dorm, which was clean and nice! The kitchen area was great. Most of all, I appreciated the front desk staff! It was so nice to talk to actual human beings (versus some hostels that use an app), and they were very patient with all of my "touristy" questions, especially regarding using public transportation! I felt safe and welcomed. I highly recommend this accommodation for your D.C. trip!

I stayed here for a short vacation in D.C. Comfortable lodgings for my first solo trip. My stay was in a private room in their annex building which is across the street from their main building which has the front desk and shared dorms. My review is for the experience in the Annex not the main building. The price can't be beat, my stay was from Tuesday through Friday and if I had stayed in a more traditional hotel I would have easily paid double or more than what I paid to stay here. The room was clean with its own private showed and bathroom, sink, tv, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Unfortunately there is no refrigerator in the annex private room, but there are plenty of places to eat out and get light groceries walking around the neighborhood. The room also had good AC with a remote and plenty of outlets. You also have a lot of privacy since they clean the rooms before and after your stay and not during. Staff was available 24/7 if you needed them, but you could potentially stay here the whole time without interacting with the staff face to face. I reached out to them by email in the middle of the night with a question expecting a response the next day, but got an answer quickly that same night. If you need anything they had trays in the hallway on each floor with supplies including towels, combs, earplugs, soaps, feminine hygiene products, etc. There were also irons and ironing boards in the hallway if needed. On the first floor was a wall with DC visitor's guides, maps, an Adams Morgan business district map and store list, and pens. The Location was great. There were tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Even though there were multiple bars on the block making noise at night (including one doing some type of Jazz night), I didn't hear any of it in my room (although maybe it could be louder on weekends). There are also plenty of Grocery Stores/Pharmacies in the area. I mainly came to DC to go to the museums and there are plenty of ways to get there. The national mall and Union Station are fairly close by and a short trip by bus or metro. They also have a bunch of E-scooters/E-bikes all around the city that you could take to these places. Would highly recommend the annex to someone looking to stay in D.C. for a reasonable price with more privacy than the shared dorm.

Honestly one of my best stays! Everything was wonderful. The team was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and the lockers were spacious. I highly recommend it and I’ll definitely come back again!

This is a great choice for a DC hostel. There are large lockable lockers, privacy curtains, and bunks with light and power. A bonus is they offer free toiletries for guests! The location in Adams Morgan is perfect. Close to the Metro and lots of Dinning’s choices.

This was a great experience. It was a boutique hotel without any fuss. Very close to a metro bus stop and a lot of dining and going out options. Everyone way so helpful and kind with the exception of one person who was maybe having a bad day. I had my 11yo daughter with me and felt very comfortable letting her go down to the desk or kitchen area by herself.

Just feels like home. Staff so friendly!

Walkable to every food you desire. Rooms are awesome. 24/hr free coffee. Staff is accessible 24 hours they give great recommendations and love their job. Dupont is a 15 minute walk to great seafood and Italian restaurants with awesome patios. It's worth the price. I have numerous trips to DC this year and will stay here as much as I can

Came to DC on a senior trip after my last college finals wrapped up, and since I am still 20 I was having a hard time finding places that would let me check in under 21. This is a fantastic location and a beautiful hotel. The staff are wonderful and the amenities are great. I love the freedom of access to a full kitchen downstairs. There is also a washer and dryer

I very much enjoyed my stay at HighRoad Hostel and would absolutely recommend it. The staff was always incredibly friendly and welcoming. The facilities are cleaned daily and always kept tidy. One thing I really appreciated was all the free essentials they provide, such as toothpaste, shower soap, toothbrushes, razors, shaving cream, combs, and much more. You get a free locker in your room that you can secure with your own lock. In the 6 bed dormitory, the beds have their own lights, power outlets, and curtains that fully close, so you still get plenty of privacy. You can leave your bags at the hostel even after you’ve already checked out. The location is fantastic as well. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops all within walking distance and there is a bus stop right next the hotel. The whole vibe of the hostel and the entire street it’s on is awesome. I’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Washington.

It was a last-minute find that ended up being one of the best parts of the trip. I moved a little further from the city center and gained peace and quiet, without losing connectivity: it allows you to easily get downtown while enjoying an area with a more relaxed vibe. The place has a mansion-like style, with several floors and very welcoming common areas: a spacious living room, armchairs, and a large table that invite you to socialize. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and well-air-conditioned, and the cleanliness is excellent. The service is outstanding, always helpful, and they add thoughtful touches like advice and lockers for your belongings. A truly enjoyable stay, one of those unexpected gems that ultimately stand out.
