About this place J.R.'s Bar & Grill

J.R.'s Bar & Grill has been a gay bar on Cedar Springs Road in Oak Lawn, the centre of gay Dallas, since 1980. It started as a narrow one-storey bar and has been enlarged several times into a multi-level venue with a video bar, food service and a balcony over the Cedar Springs strip. The name was later picked up by sister bars in other US cities. It opens from late morning or noon until 1am, and until 2am on Friday and Saturday. Happy hour and weekend nights are the busiest times, and the crowd is mostly gay men. Several other Oak Lawn bars are within a few doors, so it is easy to bar-hop on foot.

What this neighborhood bar lacks in Bacon certainly makes up for in personality I been going here for years and honestly the best local watering hole in the area … all are welcome and the staff are easy on the eyes… Even when “bacon gate” started our Bartender- Taylor was more then accommodating with other option likes the Eric Nuggets …. Coming to find out they were all out of them as well…. Guess I am not that much of trend setter if I am ordering all the popular items … In all it was a great time and defiantly will be back with my people … 1 person visiting from Houston 1 moved here from East Texas and me and my friend from Chicago Stay loud and Proud JRs ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜💘

The bartenders are great here! The also have the best BLT in Dallas! Although we’re playing pool and paying for the jukebox, their completely confusing mix of music is competing for our ear, our game intolerable. I spoke with management. I hope they can fix this soon. Otherwise love this place! Is that OK?
