About this place 23rd Street Station Piano Bar

The 23rd Street Station is Galveston's neighborhood gay piano and karaoke bar, tucked into the downtown historic district a few blocks off the Strand. Regulars describe it as the friendliest room on the island — a small, welcoming space where the piano and open-mic karaoke keep the night moving and newcomers get folded into the crowd quickly. It is home turf for the Galveston Gay Chorus and, alongside Robert's Lafitte, one of the island's two anchor LGBTQ+ gathering spots. Expect a mixed, chatty crowd, strong pours and an easygoing pace rather than a big club night.

Sheri and Clay were awesome! Highlight of my trip! Wish they had some food to snack on. But other than that we had a great time.

The bartenders were professional and the drinks were cold and well made, but the piano duet was a total bust. Not sure how to rate a piano bar that had a great bar but a bad piano show. The musicians were not drunk or mean - they tried hard and they did what they could, but it was absolutely not worth a $10 cover charge. I happily pay a cover because In most cases it is well with the price, but these guys were not good enough to play on a cruise ship or coffee bar in my opinion. They were off key. The tempo between them was off beat, and they played the same old sappy piano bar music from 30 years ago (crocodile rock/piano man, etc) and it was far and away the worst version i have heard live - ever. My kudos to the bartenders who were still all smiles and professional even though the bad music was clearly hurting their pocket book. The owner(s) would be careful not to lose them and hire better musicians.
