Gay Hollywood 2026

Hollywood is a laid-back beach city in Broward County, sitting midway between Fort Lauderdale (about 10 miles north) and Miami (about 20 miles south) on Florida's Gold Coast. It is best known for the 2.5-mile brick Broadwalk along Hollywood Beach and for a walkable, mural-filled downtown around Hollywood Boulevard and ArtsPark at Young Circle. Hollywood itself is welcoming and LGBTQ+-friendly rather than a nightlife destination: it has no dedicated gay bars, clubs or bathhouses of its own. The engine room of South Florida's gay scene is a short drive away in Wilton Manors, one of the most LGBTQ+-concentrated cities in the United States.

What Hollywood does have is genuine local LGBTQ+ infrastructure. The Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council, founded in 2019, advocates for and connects queer residents, workers and visitors across the greater Hollywood area, and the City of Hollywood maintains an official LGBTQ+ Liaison and flies the Progress Pride flag at City Hall. It is a small but real community presence in a city that is better known for its beach than its bars.

The city's flagship queer event is My Hollywood Pride, a free festival at ArtsPark at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood, produced by the Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council. Unusually, it lands in late January, which makes it one of the first Prides of the year in the country; the 2026 edition, billed as "Out & Proud: 5 Years Young," was held on Saturday, January 24. Beyond that, the nearest large celebrations are Stonewall Pride in Wilton Manors each June, the biggest in Broward County, and Pride Fort Lauderdale, with Miami Beach Pride to the south each April.

For gay nightlife, locals and visitors head to Wilton Manors, roughly 10 to 15 minutes north, where Wilton Drive, known simply as "The Drive," is lined with gay bars and clubs such as Hunters, Rosie's Bar & Grill and Georgie's Alibi Monkey Bar. Fort Lauderdale adds more bars, saunas and a beachfront scene, while Miami and Miami Beach lie to the south. Within Hollywood itself, a couple of gay-friendly neighborhood spots welcome a mixed crowd: Cloud 9 Lounge on Stirling Road, a karaoke bar that bills itself as lesbian-friendly, and the long-running Octopus Garden, a quirky pirate-themed dive bar on Hollywood Boulevard.

Downtown Hollywood centers on ArtsPark at Young Circle, a green hub that hosts food trucks, live music and community events and is ringed by restaurants and bars along Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street. The dining and drinking scene here is casual and mixed rather than gay-specific, but it is easygoing and friendly. Hollywood Beach and its Broadwalk are relaxed and family-oriented, popular with everyone but without a designated gay section. The region's well-known gay beaches are nearby: Sebastian Street Beach in Fort Lauderdale, about 10 miles north by the Ritz-Carlton, and clothing-optional Haulover Beach, about 15 to 20 miles south in Bal Harbour, whose northern end has long drawn a gay crowd.

Accommodation clusters along Hollywood Beach and the Broadwalk, from the historic Hollywood Beach Resort to oceanfront hotels such as the Costa Hollywood, with more options downtown near Young Circle and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, home of the Guitar Hotel, just west in Davie. Travelers who want to be within walking distance of gay nightlife often base themselves in Wilton Manors or Fort Lauderdale instead, then come to Hollywood for the beach. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is only about 15 minutes away, and a car or rideshare is the easiest way to get around, though the beach and downtown are pleasant to explore on foot.

The climate is warm and subtropical year-round, with hot, humid, rainy summers from June through September and mild, dry winters that draw seasonal visitors and snowbirds. Hollywood is generally considered safe and welcoming for LGBTQ+ travelers; the usual beach-town precautions apply. For day trips, Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale are minutes to the north, South Beach's Art Deco district and Haulover are to the south, and the Everglades lie to the west.
