About this place 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City

The 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City is part of the 21c chain that has pioneered the combination of contemporary art museum and luxury hotel accommodation — a format that has made 21c properties among the most sought-after in the American boutique hotel market. The Kansas City location occupies a beautifully converted building in the downtown Crossroads Arts District, placing guests in one of the city's most creative and culturally active neighbourhoods and within easy reach of the 39th Street gay corridor by rideshare or a pleasant walk through midtown. The 21c brand is explicitly LGBTQ+-welcoming — the chain's commitment to inclusion is built into its identity, its art programme (which regularly features LGBTQ+ artists and themes), and its operational culture. The hotel's art installations change regularly and occupy the corridors, lobby, and public spaces throughout the property. The Savoy at 21c restaurant is among the better hotel restaurant options in downtown Kansas City. For LGBTQ+ visitors who want to combine exceptional accommodation with the certainty of a completely welcoming environment, 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City is the obvious choice.

Great hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the affordable parking right by the hotel - a rare find at this price in a location like this.

The room was very lackluster. The “mini fridge” seemed to be a repurposed mini bar fridge that was never cold. The TV was very finicky and in the middle of watching shows/movies would go black. The light fixtures were very dusty. I chose a corner room with a city view and was treated to a parking lot and some apartments, honestly 2nd floor corner rooms should not fall within “city view” because I couldn’t have my curtains open without everyone being able to see inside my room. The bathroom sink had a weird smell. The flushing knob on the toilet was super loose, to the point I had to open the tank and fix it. The shampoo was a different brand from the conditioner and body wash, not a bad thing but why not have all the same brand. Also having to pay for parking on top of the room prices is ridiculous. Honestly I’m not sure how this hotel has a 4 star rating.

Located in the library district of downtown Kansas City, this historic hotel has been restored by Hilton. Great rooms, amazing service and anchored by the famous Savoy restaurant. Check this place out for a wonderful Kansas City experience!

Extremely disappointed in our stay. When we arrived in our room there was dirty underwear on the bathroom floor. The fridge didn’t work, and the AC was out. After trying to fix it they eventually had to move us which took a long time. Would never stay here again.

This hotel has the potential to be 5 stars, but has a few very odd quirks in the rooms, making it a 4. We stayed in a corner room, so there was a separate living room from bedroom. There was no dresser in the bedroom for folded clothes, instead there were coffee cups and a “mini fridge” (actually it was a mini bar being repurposed) in the bedroom, but the coffee maker lives in the living room, which was on a cabinet with drawers. I think they put the wrong cabinet in the wrong room. Second offense is that they ran out of regular coffee pods for in-room coffee, so they were handing out decaf. NOPE, that doesn’t work. They did provide a carafe in the lobby to make up for it. The restaurant is good with friendly service.

Very disappointed with my stay at Hotel Savoy Kansas City. I was charged more than the price shown on Booking.com, breakfast was not included even though the rate suggested otherwise, and after check-out an extra $117 charge appeared on my account with no explanation, invoice, or proof of damages. I contacted the hotel directly and never received any response. Expected much better transparency and customer service from a Hilton-affiliated property.

Location was a bit far from my work, but the hotel area was nice.
