A more traditional Aloaha feel. The beach is beautiful and quite. Staff is friendly and ready to help with a smile. We stayed in the bungalows this time and we were not disappointed! Our room was right next to Branches and we enjoyed the live music each night.
We had a relaxing fun vaction. I had never been here before. Well worth the trip.
I had the partial view king bed room. Pros first: the location is great. I loved the beach and the easy access, the view from the room (although it’s not visible from the room, I had to come all the way out into the balcony and look to my right to see it). The cabanas are lovely, and the pools are okay. The bed was comfortable and not sqeaky. Cons: The staff are not very friendly. They were never rude, but I never felt like I was a welcomed guest either. The rooms are definitely on the older side. There was dust on the wooden panels and on the coffee machine. The room smelled like wet towels from the beginning. It’s easy to tell that the cleaning is not thoroughly done. Although the person who cleaned our room made sure that there was no sand left in my beach mat and vaccuned the balcony, which I really appreciate. I only used the restaurant once for breakfast buffet, and aside from the omelette, everything tasted below average. I am pretty sure the pancakes are not made from scratch. My keys stopped working once, but they were replaced within 15 minutes. Overall, it’s a solid 3 star hotel in my opinion. I would probably not stay here again. I think if the hotel improves their breakfast buffet, clean more regularly and thoroughly, use air fresheners etc, and if the hosts try to be more accomodating, this place has potential.
Great Grounds and Luau, but a Few Hiccups Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) The Highlights: Grounds, Beach, and Luau The grounds at The Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows are absolutely beautiful, and the pools are decent. One of the best parts was the beach—it’s very nice and, thankfully, not overcrowded at all. Another major highlight was the Myths of Maui Luau. It was great, and I definitely recommend splurging for the VIP experience! The Accommodations & Staff Most of the staff members we encountered were pleasant, with the exception of one evening front desk agent who could have been more helpful. As for the room, we stayed on the 9th floor of the tower. The rooms themselves were small but very clean. The beds were comfortable, and the A/C worked great, which is a must. However, we hit a bit of bad luck during our stay as the resort was being painted. Being up on the 9th floor, the smell of the paint was overwhelming. Food & Beverage Note A quick heads-up on the coffee shop: I wouldn't recommend the coffee here. It was very weak and tasted like it was mostly milk. The Verdict: Despite the paint fumes and the weak coffee, the beautiful location, great beach, and excellent luau made this a solid 4-star stay.
Clean, beautiful resort. We had the best time. Be aware they have the Myths of Maui from 6pm-830pm daily. This causes a cluster with parking. Either be back by 5pm, or wait until 830ish. Beds are so comfy and clean!!
We could not say better things about this resort. My husband & I came for five nights and stayed on the top floor of the main building. We had an oceanfront view, which was incredible. We got a cabana everyday except one & it was well worth it (we miss cabana one so much). We got an amazing experience at the spa with the lomi lomi couples massage. Food on the property was amazing but you also have a lot of options for restaurants close by. From the moment we arrived, the staff showed pure excellence. Some honorable staff mentions are Balazs, Mate, Cara & the valet team - all of them were incredible!! The entire trip felt truly luxurious & like a Hawaiian paradise. Do yourself a favor & book here for you stay in Maui.
