The James Lee House
Visitors frequently praise The James Lee House for its beautiful historic architecture, spacious and comfortable rooms, and exceptional breakfasts prepared by the hospitable innkeeper, CC. However, one guest found the experience to be "spartan" and lacking the personal interaction and recommendations they expected from a B&B host.

The James Lee House was an awesome experience and we are so glad we chose it. And Innkeeper C.C. is fabulous! She makes a wonderful cup of coffee and her breakfasts are delicious and delightful. C.C. made our visit wonderful. The gated parking is a plus and the character of the house is stunning. And we attended a wedding that was right next door at the Woodruff Fontaine House Museum and that was so convenient to be able to walk across the courtyard. When in Memphis, highly recommend The James Lee House.
So often when traveling we just pick a hotel maybe a good maybe something cheap or something in a convenient place but nothing can compare to staying at The James Lee house we were torn between this and the Peabody and am so glad that we chose this not only is the home amazing but the level of attention was incredible and as tourists we went to the Peabody to see the ducks and the crowds and realized that anything we wanted to do there was available to the public and quite honestly was kind of off the rack where staying at The James was like a bespoke suit. Without a doubt it is the very best of the best anywhere I’ve been. CeeCee is also hands down an amazing chef
The house was clean and well maintained with so much inside and on the grounds to look at and enjoy. The host was polite and incredibly accommodating. It is in a great proximity to Beal st and many other activities in the area.
Lee suite spacious, comfortable with all amenities. Innkeeper CC prepared a deliciousbreakfast.
The house is absolutely beautiful and the service was amazing! They even made us breakfast and it was so good! Can’t wait to plan another stay❤️CC was so helpful and kind. The room we stayed in had a claw foot tub that was original to the house! So pretty!
5 stars across the board for this incredible and unique historic Guest House. On looking for a good hotel in Memphis, nothing was standing out until I came across the James Lee House which just sang out to me as a stand out and different option. So glad we went with it and had 3 fantastic nights here. The House itself is so beautiful and the Rooms are superb; huge, immaculately decorated and clean with first class bedding, towels and amenities. Bed was luxurious and comfortable. C.C. the Host and Manager was nothing short of impeccable! From supporting a late evening arrival from our previous destination to the very end of our visit we loved our time. Her breakfasts were perfectly prepared with first class ingredients, varied each morning and were just delicious! She has a unique job in managing all aspects of running the House and is stand out capable and beyond. She also gave us any tourist information we needed which we found really helpful being Scottish tourists in Memphis. Finally, she went above and beyond in shipping an item I left at the House onto our next destination. I was so grateful. If you are travelling or passing through Memphis do NOT miss the chance to stay at the James Lee House. Location is great for everything. It even featured as a stop and talking point on our City Tour and we proudly pointed out that we were staying there 😊 Most highly recommend! Thanks C.C.!
I can't give enough stars to the James Lee House!!! We stayed overnight and enjoyed a couple of fun days in Memphis. The house is incredible. It's like a dream. Its a stately home & living museum in one - its like going in back in time. The restoration is stunning - the rooms are first class, beautifully renovated, to the highest possible standard. We stayed in the Lee Suite (and our friends the Isobel suite). Both were fantastic. I loved the roll top bath & incredible bed (adjustable, with very fine linens). We sat out in the garden & watched the sunset by the fountain, we also hung out in the stunning lounge on the ground floor. Then there was the amazing breakfast. The host CC made our trip - nothing was too much trouble and she was so helpful and friendly. The area around the house was beautiful, historic buildings, ancient trees etc. We felt very safe the whole time (there is a locked car park for added piece of mind). We can't wait to come back for longer.
