Malaga Inn

Our first time in Mobile Al. Quaint, historic Inn opened in the late 60's. Filled with memorbilia and a center courtyard with fountain. Will definitely stay again next our next visit.

FANTASTIC place and people!!

Love the Malaga Inn!! I stayed in one of the historic rooms; it was clean and felt safe. The staff were very welcoming. Parking was always available, even later in the night. I did not expect perfection due to the hotel originally being built in the 1800s. Great location if you’re primarily visiting downtown, very walkable. Elevators were not currently operable. Will always stay here in the future if available!

Noisy construction beside hotel starts early 6:00AM. Rooms have little noise reduction noisy neighbors can be an issue. No bar or restaurant on site. Historical hotel which is fun. A bit pricey compared to the area's competition.

Nice location in downtown business/historic Mobile near Mobile Bay. Site pictures are misleading. Hotel needs work. Not handicapped accessible. Three levels; two inoperable elevators. All rooms enter overlooking nice courtyard. Location appears very secure. Front desk, housekeeping, and help staff are very friendly and accommodating. I would return. I hope they can get their act together. This hotel has great potential.

Great place with charm and character. Friendly staff made me feel sorry we weren’t staying here longer. It’s within walking distance of most sights. The room was spacious and clean. I’m sure we’ll be back when we get a chance.

Love the rooms! The bed is super comfortable and the room is very clean. Great location to explore the downtown area. We will come back again.

After reading positive reviews online, my wife booked an overnight stay at the Malaga Inn. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were assigned Room 205, only to find it had not been cleaned after the previous guest—the bed was unmade, and the bathroom was in poor condition. The evening manager promptly moved us to Room 203; however, it only had double beds, despite our specific request for a king. We were then relocated again to Room 202, which did meet our request. While the final room was acceptable overall, several smaller issues added to our frustration. One of the bathroom light fixtures was missing a bulb, the keys were difficult to use, and, most notably, the hot water went out—leaving us to take cold showers. The evening manager was pleasant, but beyond moving us between rooms, no upgrade or other effort was offered to resolve the situation. The experience ended on another disappointing note: during checkout, the front desk attendant did not acknowledge us, even after I passed by multiple times. This property has a great deal of potential, but our stay was marked by a series of preventable issues that detracted from the overall experience.

Historically charming with very few amenities. I wanted to give the Malaga Inn 3 stars, while my wife wanted to give it 5, so we settled on 4 stars. I chose this hotel because of its historic charm and excellent location, and it definitely delivered on both. The staff was friendly and helpful whenever we were able to find them. We stayed for two nights in one of the Historic King Bed Suites. The room was clean, comfortable, and true to the hotel’s historic character. We did run into a few issues during our stay. We had no hot water the second morning, so showers were not an option. One of the TVs did not work—the living room TV displayed a message to call a 1-800 number to activate the cable box—though the bedroom TV worked fine. It wasn’t a major problem since we didn’t spend much time in the room. Because the hotel is very old, the floors creak quite a bit, and sound travels easily. It often sounded like the guests above us were in the room with us. We heard footsteps well past 11:30 PM both nights, and again from 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM on our second morning. We could also hear coughing throughout the night. The website could use updating. It says each room has a coffee maker, but ours did not. Coffee appeared in the lobby after 7:00 AM, but there were only four cups available for the entire hotel and one pump carafe. I got a cup at 7:10, but when I returned at 7:30, the cups were gone, the coffee was empty, and no staff were around. My wife says coffee drinkers can get grumpy without their morning coffee! A few other notes: the elevators were still out of service, and the ice machine was broken. Staff did offer bagged ice if you could locate someone. My wife would definitely stay here again because of the historic charm. I’d probably try another historic hotel in Mobile next time for a few more amenities. If charm matters more to you than amenities or a quiet room, you’ll likely enjoy staying here.

Got to hotel and we had no towels. Went down yo the desk several hours later and were given damp towels. Went out and came back around midnight and were informed there was no hot water. Got up in the morning and there is still no hot water. AC wasn't working so we had a roll in AC unit that was loud. Save your money and time and book elsewhere. This our 2nd time staying here and both times were at most a 3 out of 10. Very disappointed.

The owner is such a sweet guy! Friendly staff, great location and gives French Quarter new orleans vibes.

Highly recommended ! I felt very comfortable and relaxed here The hotel is beautiful and the location is excellent. It’s near the places of interest. The staffs are super friendly and helpful, especially the lady at the front desk. I don’t know her name. I’ll be back with my friends.
