The only positive is the location. If you’re going to a game or concert the location is perfect. As for the hotel itself and staff, horrible. We arrived about 2:30 and went to the desk to ask about early check in. We were immediately met with attitude. Apparently other people were also trying to check in early and being rude, we however were not. We registered and were told we’d get a text when the room was ready. We went back to the desk after getting the text and the woman at the desk immediately said I told everyone you can’t check in!!! The rooms were also nothing special. The bed was like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Even with the location being perfect, I doubt i would ever stay here again.

So let me start by saying that the poker room at Live Casino is great for cash games, but sucks for tournaments. The cash games offer daily high hands and a $50K bad beat jackpot. Now for the tournament games, those are run horribly and encourage players to show up late with how it’s structured. So, I recently played in one of their multi-flight tournaments and got there early on a Friday morning and registered with the poker desk. The game started at 11:20 am and was 5-minutes behind schedule. They had 5-different tables started and none had more than 4-players at them, I noticed one table had only 2-players and couldn’t get started for quite some time. They issued 30,000 in chips and this is only 100-times the starting big blind and ante. As any poker player knows, you should have a minimum of 100-big blinds to cover the ups and downs of the game. Since the game only had 4-players, we were paying the blind’s 50% of the time and forced to play hands you wouldn’t normally play when it’s 9-handed. It took 2-hours for the table to get to 8-players and by this time the blinds ate up the players that arrived on time and were dealt lousy cards. The players that arrive late get the same amount of chips to start, but they get a full-table. My question is, why isn’t the tournament run where the first 9-players get first table, the next 9-players get the second table and so on down the line. The idea of playing in a tournament is you want to get the highest number of hands and minimize the blinds whenever possible. This way you can ride out the bad cards your dealt and wait for the better hands. With their current strategy, the player that arrives 2-hours late doesn’t get a shorter chip stack and they get a fully established table with a higher chip count. I left there annoyed and thought this was the stupidest set-up for serious poker players. The following Monday, I called the poker room and explained this to the tournament manager and his excuse was “this is how we’ve always done it”. I said that doesn’t make it right and it’s time for a change, but he didn’t want to hear it and just argued back and said “we agree to disagree”. How is it right for a player to arrive on time and be at a disadvantage? You're forced to play junk, in the blind cards and then 2-hours later players can join a full table. The procedure needs to be more fair, those who arrive first and on time get a full game of players. Then new games are put in play for those that arrive later. If a late arrival needs to wait for their table to be full, then that’s the price for showing up late. This is only common sense; I can’t be late for any other appointment in life and be treated the same as those that were on time. Try walking into your dentist 2-hours late and see if they get you right in the chair. Let’s stop saying this is what we’ve always done and make a change. If that were the case, we wouldn’t have equal rights, our cars wouldn’t have seat belts or air bags, and we would still be using lead paint and asbestos insulation in our houses. Wake up people!
