Pittsburgh Pride
About This Event
Pittsburgh Pride is a three-day weekend festival and march, and in 2026 it reached its 53rd edition. The organisation behind it changed completely in 2020. The Delta Foundation, which had run Pride for years, dissolved after the pandemic cancelled that year's festival, its main income. It also faced criticism over its finances. A coalition led by TransYOUniting, a Black- and trans-led nonprofit, took over from 2021. Pittsburgh Pride now has a 13-member board, and TransYOUniting founder Dena Stanley is its director.
The festival is free and takes place in Allegheny Commons Park West on the North Side, with two stages, vendors, community groups and resource tables. The march is on the Sunday morning. Contingents line up on Liberty Avenue in the Strip District and walk to the festival grounds in the park.
Money has been tight. WESA reported that corporate sponsorship fell by about half from its 2022–23 peak, and organisers made up the gap with individual donors and first-time vendors. Expect a strongly political tone: in 2026 speakers focused on anti-trans legislation and the federal government.
The 2026 edition ran 5 to 7 June under the theme "Existence is Resistance", with the march on 7 June. QBurgh, one of the coalition partners, reported more than 300,000 people and a record number of vendors. That is an organiser-side figure with no independent count behind it. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked; it is usually the first weekend of June.
