Poodle Beach

Poodle Beach, the unofficial gay stretch at Rehoboth’s southern boardwalk, draws a steady crowd each summer weekend. It sits just past the main family beach, winding around Queen Street. There’s no signpost and no city brochure, yet locals have been treating the sand as a gay‑friendly spot for decades, and the place fills up fast when the sun’s out. The beach is public, with lifeguards on duty during the season, and the town’s usual rules apply—no topless sunbathing, swimsuits stay on. It feels a bit more relaxed than the crowded family area, but you still get the same safety net. Parking at the south end is metered and nearly impossible to find in July and August. If you can, walk or bike from the town center; the short ride saves you a headache and a few bucks. Late afternoon is when the crowd really comes alive, a perfect moment to mingle before heading to a tea dance or dinner nearby.
