I’ve visited this bar multiple times over the years and have always enjoyed it, which makes last night’s experience even more disappointing. My husband and I were genuinely excited to spend part of our trip there, support the venue, and enjoy the drag performances. When we arrived around 9PM, the doorman told us they were “full,” which was completely understandable. I politely asked how long the wait might be since we didn’t mind waiting. Instead of a simple explanation, I was met with a loud, stern, and unnecessarily aggressive: “YOU CAN’T. WE ARE FULL AND DONE FOR THE NIGHT.” Meanwhile, people were actively leaving the venue, yet we were told we couldn’t even try later in the evening. It wasn’t the denial of entry that was upsetting — it was the way it was handled. Hospitality costs nothing, and respect costs even less. As someone who lives in DC and frequents their sister bar there, I expected far better. Unfortunately, one employee managed to completely overshadow what should have been a fun night out. We left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and honestly shocked by how unnecessarily rude the interaction was. There are too many great bars with talented performers and kind staff to spend money somewhere that treats guests this way. Sadly, we won’t be back — and I certainly won’t be recommending it to others anymore.
First Drag show had a ball!!
Such a fun night! The queens were amazing but sightlines were a bit rough depending on where you were sitting. Karaoke after the show was also so fun. Such a welcoming environment. The food was great and the drinks were delicious.
My daughter's bachelorette party, consisting of seven guests, was eagerly anticipating their visit to Freddies, a venue I personally recommended as a local. I had made reservations over a month in advance, expecting this to be a highlight of their weekend. The show itself was enjoyable, and our waitress, Diane, provided excellent service. However, the initial experience upon arrival nearly jeopardized our evening. We encountered a significant queue to enter Freddies. While waiting, we were talking to the individuals ahead of us stating they did not have reservations but intended to attempt entry, and they were subsequently seated. Upon presenting my reservation to the two gentlemen at the entrance, they confirmed its existence but informed me, rather abruptly, that the venue was at capacity and we could not be admitted. This response was quite shocking, and the individual's demeanor was notably impolite. I was on the verge of tears, feeling that the evening was ruined. Fortunately, another young man at the entrance intervened, offering to assist us, and successfully secured our table. I would like to express my gratitude to him once again.
