ROAR is Rochester's main LGBTQ+ dance club, on Culver Road just east of the city's arts district. It opened in 2019 to fill the gap left when several older gay clubs closed, and it quickly became the go-to for a big night out.
Expect a full weekly rotation of programming: drag brunches, karaoke, trivia, paint nights and themed dance parties, with a genuinely welcoming crowd and staff invested in the room. There's usually something on whatever night you visit, from high-energy weekends to more relaxed midweek events.
Whether you're local or just passing through, ROAR is the closest thing Rochester has to a full-scale gay dance club. Sign up for its mailing list or follow along online to catch drag headliners and special events.

Okayyy, let’s TALK about this place 💅✨ This bar is giving EVERYTHING it needs to give. The vibes? Immaculate. The music? A whole moment. The drinks? Baby… dangerously good 🍸🔥 From the second you walk in, it’s like—who invited all this ENERGY?? The crowd is cute, the lighting is serving, and the bartenders? Literal icons. Fast, fine, and mixing drinks like they’re in a performance. Whether you’re outside catching a lil breeze being fabulous or inside living your main character fantasy, this place does NOT disappoint. It’s not just a bar—it’s an experience, a lifestyle, a whole personality. If you’re not here… what are you even doing?? 😌
Attended Drag Me To Brunch on April 19th. There were 7 of us, ages 27 to 68. We all loved it! The Queens were fabulous! The show at times was hysterical. Brunch was served and the food was delicious. We were seated upstairs and each performer came up multiple times to mingle with us. Solid 5 stars in every category!!!!
Definitely check this place out! I have been to several drag shows here and will undoubtedly come back for more. The vibes are great, the drinks are strong, and the staff is wonderful. The queens are funny and charismatic and make the events worth going to.
I would write a whole love letter to Roar if you asked me to! DeeDee is absolutely fabulous and you can tell she works her ass off to make this place what it is. I’ve been going to Roar since 2021, and they are always on point and exceeding your expectations. Good drinks, good music, good performances. I went to their drag brunch this Sunday, my first time ever going during daytime hours. What an amazing time! The queens put their all into their performances. It was also my first time ever having their food; it was really flavorful. Professional, fun, friendly club. It’s sad to see some people leave bad reviews for this place just because they were held accountable to the law. The staff takes everyone’s safety VERY SERIOUSLY. That is nothing to fault them for, and it just speaks to their standards of making Roar a safe place for everyone. I always feel safe to let loose when I’m here. I’ve been with gay friends and straight friends alike, and they have all had nothing but positive things to say. VIVA LA ROAR! 🦁
