The Hotel Castro

Small but surprisingly comfy rooms well equipped with nice details and small outside deck. Decks on higher rooms have a view and would be more desirable. Response from management was always prompt.

I picked the hotel because it was so close to The Castro Theatre where they’re doing their month long residency. The hotel was perfect. Easy to navigate with the contactless aspects

No staff on site. The automation means you’re paying significantly more and getting significantly less — no flexibility on checkin or checkout time, can’t drop off your bag early, nobody to ask for recommendations or help, no lobby or common area (there’s a hotel bar but you have to exit the hotel and walk down to enter another door to get there), and all the human niceties are going to be packaged and sold back to you as extra charges in the range of hundreds of dollars (they were going to ask $100+ for early checkin)

Loved the experience from booking to checkout. The check-in instructions were very clear and easy to follow, which made arrival seamless.The room was nicely appointed with a fun, stylish vibe. Everything felt thoughtful and well done. My only small note is that the mattress could have been a bit more comfortable—but that didn’t take away from an otherwise excellent stay.The hotel is in a great, accessible location, and next time I’m in San Francisco I would absolutely consider staying here again.

It was a little complicated at first because there's no front desk, and we didn't receive the confirmation code, but it wasn't the hotel's fault. We had to call customer service and the problem was solved. Other than that, everything was fine.

Great location, amenities, ease of self check in and check out! Will definitely stay again.

This hotel is located in a safe, fun, and quiet location. They provide quality products and thoughtful design throughout. Check-in process was easy and clear. Highly recommend

I’m not exaggerating when I saw this is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. The whole contactless thing feels easy and streamlined. The location was amazing. So close to tons of bars and even has a bar in the same building. The rooms were stylish and modern, but still quaint with character. Everything was really clean and comfortable and safe. I hope to stay here again and can’t recommend it enough. I hesitate to write this review only because I don’t want my new hidden gem to get discovered! Incredible experience.

It was the perfect location for where I needed to be in the Castro District the room was great it was clean it had everything I needed I would stay there again if I was down there

Service from the entirely automated system made our check-in process a bit frustrating. Furthermore, be careful of potentially confusing charges, e.g., a room damage waiver. However, a staff member did reach out to us afterwards to apologize and help mediate the situation, and this effort was appreciated. The hotel is in the center of everything for the Castro. Our room was small, but the bathroom was quite nice. Be sure to check out the roof garden/deck.

Beautiful spot. Clean and rejuvenating. I’ll come back
