Elevator doesn’t work. Smells like urine, location suspect, bed bugs, tenderloin

Booked 2 nights but when we arrived we drove up to first responders dealing with a OD just a few feet up the sidewalk. The amount of addicts outside the main door was insane, not to mention in the lobby. The area was unsafe. I would not even let my dog stay in a place like this let alone children. Seeking a refund as we wouldn't stay there.

Very nice staff, helped me every time and never showed me any signs of irritation or negativity. Room was well cleaned just like the shared toilets and shower! If you need a place to stay that's inexpensive and close to public transportation come to the Warfield!!!

DO NOT BOOK. I am someone who is low maintenance. I can live in a hut in the wilderness with no electricity and be happy, but this place was honestly horrific. The staff were nice, but first red flag was the elevator broken with my room on 4th floor. Then red flags rushed in as soon as I walked in my room. Room was disgusting, with red/brown stains all over the sheets and bed. The room just didn't feel clean. There was a synthetic smell of some drug OTHER than weed/tobacco that would come in and out. That smell would fill the hotel hallways and my room at different times. Shower was luke warm. No shampoo, soap, conditioner, handsome. Even the towels seemed a little sus with spots on them. The area was not the best, with people doing drugs and shlumped over in front and all of the blocks surrounding. NOT SAFE FOR FAMILIES. And honestly not even a place for those solo/groups who just book places for the night. UNLESS you're okay with second hand mystery drug smoke filling your lungs as you sleep. I am happy I have friends out here, cuz I booker 2 nights, and 0/2 of those nights I stayed in this hotel. I didn't even want to bother for getting refund.

It is the Tenderloin San Francisco so keep that in mind ,but two blocks east as you exit the door your on Market street .The staff was awsome got to check in at 1:00PM two hours early .The room was big with a fridge a comfortable bed and ceiling fan .The noise was not that bad with the window shut in a room not facing the road .Another thing that suprised me was they charged me no deposit ,very understanding knowing it takes a little bit of time for your card to get charged back .All in all my experience was great and I would stay there again .

I honestly decided not to take the neighborhood as an element for my review. That's a city issue, not the hotel. I, since my first time here have encountered the same level of hospitality, capacity, honestly and a real desire of help. No matter who's at the front desk they're always there to help. I do recommend this hotel to friends and Iplan to keep using it.

Stayed at Warfield Hotel during my first trip to San Francisco and honestly it was kinda frustrating. After a long flight I got to the hotel expecting a quick check in but the front desk took forever to help people out. The lobby was packed and nobody really explained what was going on which made the whole vibe feel messy and stressful. The room was alright and the price wasn’t too crazy for SF but the slow service totally killed the experience for me. As a first time visitor to the city I was hoping for something more welcoming and smooth. Overall I’d say it’s a mid spot maybe okay if you just need somewhere cheap to crash but I probably wouldn’t recommend it to friends visiting San Francisco for the first time.

I checked out of the hotel within a couple of hours and immediately booked somewhere else due to how poor the conditions were in my room. There were parts of my experience that were external and not the fault of the establishment (its in a rough neighborhood, which has been mentioned in other reviews) and a lot of things that were internal which I was not a fan of. The first and only really nice thing was that when I arrived a couple of hours early, I was able to leave my carry on bag and have it be placed in a room behind the front desk. From there, everything took a turn for the worse when I came back to check-in. The elevator was out of order, and it seemed like it had been out of order for a while. When I arrived to my room I was shocked to see a room that looked nothing like the photos listed online. It seems that at some point in the last few years the space had been remodeled poorly. Despite having air conditioning listed as a popular amenity, my personal room only contained a ceiling fan. My bed rested on top of another mattress that contained weird discoloration and stains. My comforter also had a stain, as well as the chair in the room which had so many different types of stains I was afraid to sit or place anything on it. The private bathroom seemed decent at first, but at further glance I saw heavy discoloration in the shower tiles (which might have been mold and/or mildew). The curtain rod for the shower also looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks. I think many of these complaints could be immediately fixed by management by getting a nicer laundry service, newer furniture because that chair can not be properly cleaned and restored in its condition, new mattresses that do not have stains, and making sure that surfaces in the bathroom get cleaned more throughly between guest stays. I did not feel safe walking around the hotel but that’s more of a disclaimer for anyone staying nearby as that factor is not the fault of the hotel or staff but on the lack of support for unhoused people in San Francisco. Despite being listed as a 3 star hotel, I would rank it closer to 1 star for the lack of customer care and cleanliness. While I was offered the option for another room when I checked out early, I had already made up my mind to go with a more established 4 star experience elsewhere in the city. If you’re in desperate need of shelter for a night and don’t have a large budget, then this is your place. Otherwise I would recommend looking elsewhere in the city.
