We only had dinner and drinks, but suspect everything this Inn sets its mind to do it would be done with class! The menu was outstanding and exceedingly expensive. Portions were normal. Desserts were good. The fish I had was cooked brilliantly and had wonderfully tangy Green sauce, but the sides of broccoli and mushrooms were severely under flavored. The Roti bread was a nice touch, but seemed a somewhat out of synch choice for fish…even a Branzino. The atmospherics were fantastic; farmhouse leather, low light, fun and friendly environment…and you can’t beat that evening Cali weather and twilight!

Cannot say enough about how wonderful the people and property at Mattei's are. We were reluctant to splurge on a hotel of this caliber for the first time, but our wedding absolutely warranted it, and we were so happy with our decision. Each staff member (bellmen, front desk, concierge, events, restaurant staff, housekeeping, etc.) treated us as friends or family, expressing genuine interest and the utmost care in making sure we had the best experience. The property and amenities are spectacularly beautiful and well-kept, but truly, the service absolutely blew us away and set an unprecedented new standard for hospitality. Thank you Matthei's team and we look forward to coming back!

The hotel is charming, but definitely not worth the price. We waited so long for an order of French fries at the pool bar, that we just canceled it as we were leaving the pool area. We had a reservation in the Tavern for dinner, but it was so loud and packed, we opted for sitting in the bar area. Also we were awakened very early in the morning from the noise of people checking out in rooms next to ours. They took off the resort fee which was nominal. The employees were very friendly, but if they want return clients, they could do better.
