Hotel Ruby | Spokane

Worked great for us. We stayed over night for a concert at the Fox Theater, one block away. You will have to pay ($7.00) a day to park at the hotel.

Sweet little space. Room was nothing special but was very cozy and had a nice bathroom. I love the motel vibe (but nicer than a motel). The perks are awesome, two free drinks at their bar, and two free breakfasts at the place next door! Place is close to anywhere you’d want to walk to downtown. Overall, great experience.

Had a wonderful experience at the front desk where my questions and confusion were quarreled. The location is within walking distance of a vast array of amenities. Also very simple parking on site and more less than a block away. Would love to come back in the future.

Such a funky place and great downtown location. And you can have a beer or glass of wine on the house after checking in, and breakfast at Rosie’s is great.

Smaller but great rooms with all you need. And the there are the bonuses of breakfast at the next door restaurant and drinks at the bar. Extra bonus, the beds come with two soft and one firm pillow, the latter I much appreciate. The bed was firmer but not too firm which was great too.

Dirty room with hair on bed and dust all over, drug addicts using in parking lot. But great location and staff were very friendly.

I decided to stay at this hotel for my Spokane trip because of the 4 star Google reviews and the nice pictures on the hotel’s Google profile. Unfortunately, those pics do not fairly represent the current state of the hotel. I have attached current pics to give you a more up to date view. The hotel is in a sketchy area and is WAY past its prime. The area is noisy and the walls and door transmit every sound. They do, however, provide ear plugs in the room. LOL The guest robe was crumpled and shoved into the closet shelf. The bed sheets, at least, seemed to be clean. Stay at the Ruby River hotel instead. Much nicer

Best part was the breakfast next door

The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was on the small side with a nice shower. The area around the hotel was filled with a lot of homeless and smelled like pee.

I wanted to love Hotel Ruby, I genuinely did. The rustic, vintage feel and historic character are exactly the kind of place I go out of my way to support, and honestly, the positive reviews are why I chose it for my first overnight stay in Spokane as a first-time Priceline user. Before my stay, I reached out to the hotel 3 days prior to find out parking price because downtown parking is a premium and the rates are all over the place. Based on the quoted price, Hotel Ruby was the most economical. This was not the case after I arrived. I’m all about transparency and the hotel clerk spent 5 minutes staring at a screen attempting to come up with a response to match. She didn’t have one and I was told to scan a code, create an account, blah blah, you know the tech drill. Or I could somehow figure out where to park after a 6-hour road trip. Also. Parking “began” at midnight prior to my 4PM required check-in. Fascinating. The previous guest was told about the “entertainment fee”. I wasn’t, but I also was uninterested in paying yet another surprise, mandatory fee as a non drinker at their attached bar. Again, no other option. When I got to the room and was looking for the Wi-Fi password, I noticed on the printed material that the Parking was listed at the price I was quoted. Not the price I was forced to pay. My room was next to a stairwell, which did not feel comfortable as a solo female traveler and felt retaliatory after I questioned the parking rate and overheard the room assignment of the guest ahead of me. Inside the room, there were several basic issues. The ironing board was broken so I had to iron from the floor the morning of my conference, coincidentally on social justice. The fridge had been left open so any of the food I brought went into a stagnant box. Also, there were literally no blankets on the bed, at all, just sheets, even though it was 49 degrees outside at night. I kept the fan on the AC unit simply for the white noise of the constant foot traffic outside my room. I was also charged both a property fee through Priceline and then an entertainment fee after checkout. I do not drink, yet bar drinks somehow seemed tied into the pricing structure while also appearing as additional charges. None of it was clearly explained. The room had a strong, unpleasant odor immediately upon entering. I actually had to leave and take a walk after check-in just to get fresh air. I really wanted to support this place because of its charm and character, but the experience did not match the image presented online by other reviewers. I would not choose to stay here again on a future trip to Spokane. In fact I’d avoid it to go to another spot that’s higher priced because they wind up evening out. For reference, I reached out to the hotel for three days prior to this review and got absolutely zero response to any of my questions for the overcharge, charges after checkout, and unmatched price to what I paid online
