About this place PROMO Missouri

PROMO is Missouri's statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organisation — the primary political and legal resource for queer Missourians navigating a state legislature that has frequently been hostile to LGBTQ+ rights. The organisation works across Missouri's major cities, with a significant presence in both St. Louis and Kansas City, and focuses on legislative advocacy, voter education, coalition building, and community support. PROMO's work is particularly important in the Missouri context: the state has often been a battleground for LGBTQ+ rights, with conservative rural districts holding significant legislative power and urban LGBTQ+ communities requiring organised advocacy to defend and advance their interests. For LGBTQ+ visitors to St. Louis who want to understand the political context of queer life in Missouri, or for those who want to support the organisations doing advocacy work in the state, PROMO is the primary resource. The organisation also maintains a presence at PrideFest St. Louis each June and serves as a connector between the city's LGBTQ+ community and the statewide political landscape.

Ann with Promo rang my doorbell today despite TWO posted no soliciting signs. They claimed the are canvassing, not soliciting, so it's legal for them to ignore the signs. This may be true, but it's clear I do not want uninvited visitors ringing my doorbell for any reason. Her and the other guy that she was with both started arguing with me. I asked them directly: "in your opinion, do you think somebody with two no soliciting signs wants to talk to you?" She refused to answer because the answer is clearly no. They may be operating in a legal loophole, but they clearly do not respect others. That doesn't speak well on Promo as an organization. They both started to get smart with me and told me I was an idiot before driving away.

They are fighting for our rights and doing a wonderful job at it! An organization to truly respect and listen to. Check out the events they host and the work they’re doing. The photo is from a rally they hosted in Jefferson City!
