Hampton Inn & Suites Tacoma

This is the second time I have stayed here. I come for work. The first time I selected a room ahead of time that was on the side away from the freeway and they said it wasn’t ready. They gave me a room that was already occupied and I walked into very surprised and then they gave me a room on the opposite side of the building where the freeway and construction is. Then I finally got an ok room. The person at the front desk was nice. Second time I stayed for work a few weeks later and I pay extra to have my room on the side away from the freeway. I work long days when in town. The person at the front desk gives me a room near the freeway again and said the one I paid extra for and selected in advance is taken. She moved me to a different room and took off the upcharge I had paid so that was nice. However, this room had a large shattered window, door that wouldn’t deadbolt lock due to damage and the iron leaked rusty water all over my work clothes I was ironing in the morning. She helped with that by cleaning the iron, but it was too late because I had to leave for work. She said she couldn’t find another one. If I bother to stay here again it would only be out of absolute necessity. This does not hold up to any Hilton brand standard that I have seen.

Rooms are nice, staff is professional, location is fine. Low on stars because their hot tub has been broken for a long time now. No answer was provided when I questioned what was going on about it and how long it would be until it was fixed.

It was a nightmare to have ants and bugs keep coming out from the crevices in the bathroom. At first I thought it was OK to see one or two bugs. But later we found various bugs on the towel, in the shower and on the vanity. My husband assumed it might be because of the storage room behind the wall. Hampton Inn, please have a pest control to check your property.

I have never had my senses ping at a hotel like I did for this one. I'm not sure how much is the hotel's fault, if any but it literally started from when I checked in. I got out of the car and a little kid ran up to me and said, "Look what I found in the parking lot" and he was holding a bullet. When I was sitting in the lobby some woman who looked homeless was holding a ton of stuff and was crying in the lobby. She was saying how she doesn't know the guy's name and now she has nowhere to stay. So I assume she's some sort of scammer, but they won't let her check in. There is an unbelievably transient nature here and a seriously rough element of people who stay here. People are checking in and out at literally all hours. Something is just really off. I'd sleep in my car instead of staying at this one again.

The room seriously needs some pest control, particularly many ants and some unknown bugs in the bathroom. The room is 333, and just next to a storage room, which might be where those ants come from. Other than that, the room is generally clean.

Our family has stayed at Hampton Inn hotels across the country for years because of their consistently excellent customer service. Unfortunately, our experience with this location was very different. We booked two rooms for my family in a single transaction through the Hilton app, but they were assigned separate confirmation numbers. When our travel plans changed nine days before our trip, Hampton Inn Tacoma treated them as two separate cancellations and charged us for both rooms. Hilton Corporate told me this was not the standard booking process and agreed that our situation warranted some flexibility. They attempted to work with the hotel to provide a partial refund, but the decision ultimately rested with the hotel, which chose to fully charge us for both rooms. We had planned to stay at another Hampton Inn in our new destination, but instead were charged the full cost of both rooms despite canceling nine days before our scheduled stay. This experience was not consistent with the Hampton Inn brand we've come to trust. Because of how this situation was handled, we booked our new stay with a different hotel chain instead. Based on our experience, I would recommend considering another hotel in the area if responsive and flexible customer service is important to you.

Ada room is neither. No handrails for toilet, no chair for bath. Tons of rails inside full tub bot none outside.
