About this place Icon Tuscaloosa

Icon is Tuscaloosa's primary LGBTQ+ venue, serving as a gathering place for the local queer community. This is a casual, no-frills bar with a distinctly authentic dive atmosphere—the kind of place where you'll find genuine local character rather than polished production. The venue plays an important role in Tuscaloosa's queer scene, particularly as a centerpiece for drag performances and expression. If you're visiting Tuscaloosa and looking for LGBTQ+ nightlife, Icon is where the community congregates. The vibe is unpretentious and welcoming to those seeking connection with local queer folks. The bar's location on Greensboro Avenue puts it in an active neighborhood spot. This is a real neighborhood bar serving a real community, so expect the authentic feel that comes with that—it's not designed to cater to tourists, but rather to be home for locals. Whether you're passing through or staying in the area, Icon offers a genuine glimpse into Tuscaloosa's queer culture. Come prepared for a dive bar experience, arrive with an open mind, and you'll find yourself part of something rooted in actual community rather than commercial polish.

The DJ absolutely sucks and plays the worst music with no song requests. The music is so Taylor swift (in the worst way). I wouldn’t go here again 1/10.

Excellent service! Could definitely use some cosmetic work and a little musical variety, but otherwise a great place. Thankful to have a queer spot like this in town.
