Capital Pride 2027
About This Event
Capital Pride, Washington DC's annual LGBTQ+ celebration, happens every June. It's one of the world's most politically charged Pride events, right here in the US capital.
The Capital Pride Parade marches down Pennsylvania Avenue NW. That's the same street where presidents are inaugurated, linking the US Capitol to the White House. The symbolism hits hard: a march for LGBTQ+ equality on the very street of American political power, in the city where laws are made.
More than 200,000 people show up. There's a multi-day festival on the National Mall and nearby, with performances and community groups. All of Washington's LGBTQ+ organizations are out in force.
Capital Pride feels more political than other big US Pride events. The groups you see are the ones lobbying Congress, filing federal lawsuits, and running national campaigns. Politicians, including members of Congress, march in the parade. The HRC, the National LGBTQ Task Force, and dozens of other national LGBTQ+ organizations use Pride week to push their legislative and policy goals.
If you want to see the celebratory and political sides of American LGBTQ+ life at their peak, Capital Pride is the place.
