Charles River Motel

DO NOT BOOK HERE I cancelled my reservation a month before, my original booking had it as “pay at property.” two nights for $330. I got a charge at 7am the day before for $330 and another $334 that got denied. they tried charging me $664 for a reservation I already cancelled. I called and the manchild who answered the phone was incredibly rude and short “call your bank then” is what he said. unreal. I called both expedia who then called the charles river, I then get a call back from charles river saying they’ll refund the second night but keep half. pathetic. I called my bank and am now disputing the charges.

Would give zero stars if could. The room was disgusting there were cob webs in every corner and there wasn’t a single place that didn’t have a strain or a layer of dirt to the point where my girlfriend and I never walked in the room barefoot.The staff was rude and very unwelcoming like we did something wrong for buying a room. Then there was the electrical work that will actively destroy any cord you plug in. We lost a PS5, a back massager, and a couple of chargers. Save your time, save your money, and save your electronics.

You get exactly what you pay for here, and in a sense that's great. Our phone didn't work, the coffee maker was missing a piece, and the sheets were a little small and kept coming off. But also, it was a very clean room that kept us warm when it felt like -15 degrees outside (not kidding). That for $94 on short notice - can't complain at all. Perfect for anyone looking for a cheap place to stay the night when going to a show at Brighton Music Hall, the Roadrunner, etc. or doing something else in Boston.

Watch your bank statements with this place. I was charged and never stayed. Then I was told I never cancelled when I did. Then asked to provide proof I was charged and never received refund! This place is a scam!!!! Trust you will find a better place to stay. Avoid going here

This motel is exactly what you pay for. For $100, my daughter and I got a warm room, and a roof over our heads after a concert nearby. A 10 minute Uber ride to the venue made this an ideal choice. We were warned that there was no hot water when we checked in, but they had that fixed by morning. Nothing special about the rooms, beds were a little too bouncy for my taste, and there was no breakfast served in the morning, however the motel is sandwiched between a McDonald's and an IHOP.

Front desk service in the evening was fine. It took a bit of time to check in, had to sit down after standing in line for about ten minutes, as there was only one person at the front desk managing someone who needed to make up $7.58 of a difference in front of us and that took time. The room was spacious but the heater was unresponsive to adjustments and kept going despite temperature adjustments. Had to turn it off, restarted in the morning when I woke up and the room was cold, and it worked then. The next morning the hot water was not working—so could not take a shower. Upon check-out, I informed the front desk person of the water heating issue, and they said they were aware of the issue, that they were working on it have a nice day in one breath, and abruptly ended the conversation. I left and told him it was just to tell him what was going on, not a complaint. I probably won’t be coming back to this hotel.

Disgusting. Room smelled. Dirty, hair all over the shower. Toilet was dirty.

Oldish interior, no carpets, extremely loud ice machine

Horrible Hotel room. There was no power supply to our room when we checked in! A very rude hotel manager who also owns the place did not even want to help us or even give us a refund for no fault of ours. It being very late, we managed with flashlight on the phone as it was impossible to find an accommodation elsewhere at that time. Adding to the list, the bathroom was in a horrible condition and the floors were not clean. Worst part is that it’s not even cheap and they charge close to $200/night. Would not recommend this hotel. Horrible experience and customer service.

Clean room, clean pillows and sheets, comfortable bed. Easy and friendly check in and great customer service. I would definitely stay here again. Perfect if you’re going to a show at Roadrunner since it’s a 4 minute inexpensive uber ride or a pleasant 25 minute walk.

Pros - comfy bed with extra pillows, non carpeted floors, friendly staff Cons - tv didn't work, door lock was broken, no breakfast as advertised
