Falls Short of Five-Star Standards – Serious Maintenance, Hygiene & Safety Concerns Our stay raised several serious concerns regarding maintenance, cleanliness, hygiene, and overall standards, which unfortunately did not reflect what I would expect from a five-star hotel. Pest control needs significant improvement. We encountered mosquitoes flying inside our room, which was uncomfortable and unexpected. The furniture appears old and dated, with visible signs of wear and staining in some areas. The bathroom also feels considerably aged and would benefit from refurbishment to bring the accommodation up to modern five-star standards. The air-conditioning system was particularly disappointing. The units appeared old, the blowers were noisy, and the cooling performance was poor. This is an area that, in my opinion, requires proper refurbishment rather than temporary maintenance. The minibar selection was also surprisingly limited for a hotel in this category. The most concerning incident occurred when we became trapped inside one of the hotel elevators. The doors failed to open, and we had to use the emergency assistance system. It took approximately 25 minutes before hotel staff were able to open the doors. This was a very distressing experience and naturally raised serious concerns for us regarding the maintenance and reliability of the elevator system. The elevators themselves also show noticeable signs of age and deterioration, and there was an unpleasant metallic/rust-like smell inside. No ventilation inside the elevator which makes breathing difficult. Following our experience of actually becoming trapped, I strongly believe the elevator systems, emergency procedures, maintenance schedules, and ventilation should be thoroughly reviewed. The gym also requires urgent attention from a safety perspective. The dumbbell rack appeared old and deteriorated, with parts of the rubber restraints/base becoming loose. This could potentially allow dumbbells to become unstable or fall. Fitness equipment and storage systems provided to hotel guests should be regularly inspected and maintained to an appropriate safety standard. Breakfast hygiene was another major concern. During the buffet in the lobby restaurant, we observed numerous flies and mosquitoes around the food area, including insects landing on uncovered food items. This was extremely unpleasant and raised genuine concerns about food hygiene and pest-control standards. Exposed buffet food should be properly protected, particularly where insects are present. Taken individually, some of these issues might appear manageable. Taken together mosquitoes in the room, aging furniture and bathroom facilities, inadequate air conditioning, the elevator malfunction, deteriorating gym equipment, and insects around exposed breakfast food, they point to a property that requires substantial attention to maintenance and refurbishment. I am sharing these details so that future guests can make an informed decision and so that management has an opportunity to address them. Based on our experience, the hotel's current physical condition, maintenance and hygiene standards did not meet the level we personally associate with an internationally recognized five-star property.
No proper pest control, Mosquitos in the room flying around. Furniture is old and out dated, traces of stains. Toilet in general is old, needs refurbishment to keep the hotel aligned with the 5 star category worldwide. Air conditioning in the room is old units and noisy blowers, with poor cooling capability, this needs to be refurbished. Very limited mini bar selections. The hotel lift got jammed while I was in it, the door failed to open, hotel staff took 15min to open the door. This again shows clear red flag on the maintenance condition of the hotel. The gym also needs urgent attention, the dumbell weight rack is old and falling apart, dumbell restraining rubber base is loose causing dumbell fall risk higher which can cause injury to hotel guests. I report all of this so people are made aware of the hotel's condition to avoid confusion on the hotel rating level (5). The lobby restaurant during breakfast buffet, there was lots of flies and mosquitoes sitting on the uncovered food items making it look disgusting. This is a serious issue which MUST be tackled by Hotel management as this is a main cause for food poisoning for foreigners who are not immune to the same level of local immunity for such conditions. The hotel lift is smelling of rusted chrome, due to the aging factor and deterioration of its parts. No air fan is provided in the hotel lifts, which makes it dangerous of suffocation risk in case hotel guests are trapped inside for long time. ***The hotel management would require to action all these points to make things better.
Labourdonnais is my favorite place for breakfast and coffee. It is opposite my sailboat in Caudan Marina. So I visit frequently. Very nice staf. A pleasure to be here. Cheers, Jacqueline Evers - Sailing Loveworkx solo round the world
Absolutely splendid breakfast buffet in the hotel's elegant waterfront Brasserie. Terrific selection, indoor and outdoor seating options, cordial and gracious service, and overall delightful experience. This was a wonderful early morning surprise for a non-guest and I can highly recommend this experience to others. Will definitely return again!
Ok
Stayed for a week. Booked the half-board option. They won't tell you what the dinner includes so I will: An allowance of 2250 mur per person, not including drinks (not even water) or room service Two restaurants to choose from. An Asian one which isn't always open and quiet pricy and international one that takes an hour to prepare a burger. Overall: is it a 5 star hotel? No. Is it worth the money? No. But if you are going to stay here don't get the half board option as it's not worth the time and money.
Fantastic business hotel. Clean rooms, facilitirs, nice bar and retaurants. Recommended if you are here for a few days for work purposes or organising events.
