Even though I am not HIV Positive or at risk, but a low income Torontotian person who have been struggling with severe mental health issues over the years. I really rely on Casey House for a Decent and Nurtious lunch. Which I am really Ever 🥲 grateful for. The place is super organized and the staff works there make you welcome, and super nice 🙂❤️. I feel humble knowing that I can go to Casey's house to get a Warm meal, Soup, Coffee ☕, everything in one package 📦. Loving it so far. I really Hope 🙏 Casey House thrive many years to come🫴. Thanks again!

I have been HIV positive for many years and always thought when I got sick Casey house would be the place to go Now that the priority for Casey house is drug addicts ( just giving out supplies. No recovery programming I'm aware of) I have been in their Day program for a few years and right now I'm relatively healthy, but lately I feel anxious going to the building. If I became sick and frail I do not think I would feel safe staying at this Hospital

I think it's absolutely disgusting to walk past this house with your children and all you see is addicts sitting outside on the lawn shooting up people passed out cause there all doped up. Give these people help you should not condone this right in front of your property

You are nothing more than a number at Casey House. I’m disgusted by the lack of compassion, professionalism and “customer service” was offered at Casey House. I’m in disbelief by the run around I got with every concern. When I found out my mother passed in hospital I called to speak with a nurse to gather a little more information. I explained who I was and that my mother just passed. No condolences were offered which seemed cold but I continued on. I was then told “I don’t know what to tell you, we are on weekend staffing levels and are busy right now”. Zero care in the world as to the sensitivity of my call and zero help. As someone who worked in healthcare (all throughout Covid might I add) I understand the strain of holiday/ weekend staffing levels. A simple “I’m very sorry about your mother’s passing. We are very busy right now could I call you back in an hour?” Would have gone a long way. I brought up the interaction next time I called in, no response to the issue. Just “we will bring it to managements attention”. I came to Casey House later that week to pick up some legal documents and personal belongings. A few days later the funeral home director called me asking if I could call Casey House because he phoned and they told him they had no idea where any of her legal documents were. Yet I was there with a staff member and picked them up a couple days prior? Is that not what notes are for? When I picked up her legal documents, all her stuff was packed on a cart in the basement. We briefly went through it as I couldn’t take it all with me, I opened a new box of Ugg boots and made a mental note of them. I was told they could store belongings for 30 days. I tried to come back on the weekend to pick up the remaining items but was told I couldn’t on the weekend because the area couldn’t be accessed. When I came back to pick up, I notiiced the Ugg boots were gone. Someone had stolen the Uggs, and truthfully who knows what else. I was quite disgusted that someone would take them. I called to address this. The response I received was that they “asked around” but nobody knows - because someone who stole something would admit to that right? Then I was told “they had no space and her belongings were stored in the hall. But it was brought to managements attention for future”. It’s not even the item that is upsetting, it’s the principle of what happened and how it was addressed. A huge slap in the face. I truly have no words for the lack of accountability, care, and professionalism that was offered at Casey House.

Casey House after many years you have gone from Communiuty leader to now a Community Menace. You once were there for rhe community and as a community we rallied around you volunteering and raising millions. The HIV landscape has changed and so has your mission. I do believe you are trying to help people but what you have left behind is chaos for the community and your neighbours. I have lived within 250m of Casey house for 20 years. Over the past few years the green bags and now mail an envelopes that contain safe injection and drug parephanlia have been littered all over. That is minor annoyance. But that led to a huge influx in your clients infiltrating the apartment buildings around you. I now routinely find needles, passed out users arguments broken glass and last week feces in the stairwell outside my unit. This of course should also be addressed to building management of course as well. While I actually feel less safe in my home I just accepted that this was the changing landscape of downtown. Recently however the community impact continues to grow. Tonight, as just one of many many days and examples, on a walk to the shops on Sherbourne I was forced to face 6 people in the bushes outside of my building screaming and scary high. As I crossed Jarvis there were many people inside the LOCKED front garden of Casey house using and yelling to a dealer over the wall. at the end of the garden wall a man in obvious distress splayed across the sidewalk that I needed to step over. At the Casey house sign there were 4 people using pipes and one partially naked. Further along the wall there was a gentleman sitting on the wall bleeding down his arm. Where are your STAFF? Where is your security? If this was a one off I’d chalk it up to a bad day. But this is now EVERYDAY. If I needed or wanted to access Casey House I would have no idea even how to access the door on a work day. While I am sure that you are providing some services that are helping people you have left the community behind. This is now substance use services not HIV services. For this reason I come back to where I started you are not a community leader but a community and neighbourhood menace. Your reputation along with your sign has been tarnished.
