Good room. Good shower. Good bed. Good kitchenette. Good staff. Well run.
Booked a double room for my children and I while visiting family in Adelaide during a very busy time (April 2026). The location and service was great, I was called prior to the booking confirming how many beds we needed and whether I needed a cot for my baby. The woman at check in was very helpful and allowed us to check in early as our room was ready. The room had everything you need, fridge, kettle, microwave and a small table. The room was very dated and mismatched with decor. The mattresses on the beds were very uncomfortable, hard and lumpy as if they hadn't been replaced in years. Good water pressure on the shower thankfully. We stayed a week and it was a quiet stay until Friday and Saturday night which is to be expected. I'd say if you're on a tight budget it's okay, but for the price it was, it wasn't even cheap.
For a 3 star hotel... its ok. Great location is its main draw card, with free parking out the back. That being said, car park is very tight with small parks on a 'first come, first served' basis. Rooms are good enough for a short stay, but don't expect much. Family room had one bathroom with no lock on the door. First morning we arrived there was no hot water due to a power outage, and staff had not reset the boiler. You also must pre book your room to be made up, which we did, and upon our return from being out one day, it had not been done. This leads me to believe that strong processes and procedures are lacking in staff and management. I also do not recommend the restraunt 'Edi's Kitchen' attached to the hotel. Not part of Breakfree, but detracts from the experience and options available under the one roof. Poor service and also lacking in standard hospitality skills. Overall, 3 stars.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, which was definitely a highlight of the stay. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not live up to expectations. The room itself felt very outdated and not particularly clean. The couch was visibly stained and worn, and there were cigarette butts left in the room upon arrival, which was quite unpleasant. I also found that the fridge was freezing all of my food, making it unusable for storing items properly. There were also noticeable noise issues, as I could clearly hear guests in neighbouring rooms, making it difficult to relax and get proper rest. Service was inconsistent throughout my stay. I reported the cigarette butts and asked for them to be cleaned, but it wasn’t handled promptly. There was also no body wash in the shower, and when I contacted reception, the response wasn’t particularly helpful. A cleaner eventually came, but interrupted my rest and had to return multiple times after forgetting her keys. The café experience was also disappointing. I waited around 10 minutes for service with no staff attending to me, so I left. On another occasion, a waiter didn’t write down our order and several items were forgotten. Overall, while the location is excellent, the hotel itself is in need of significant updates, better cleanliness standards, and improved customer service. I would not stay here again based on this experience.
