Delhi Queer Pride 2026

The Delhi Queer Pride Parade, India’s biggest LGBTQ+ event, started in 2008. It was a march held while Section 377, the law criminalizing homosexuality, was still being fought in court. Now, every November, tens of thousands show up. It's a huge demonstration of how many LGBTQ+ people and allies live in India, and how confident they are.

The parade happens the last Sunday of November. It marches through central Delhi, usually a few kilometers from a central meeting spot to a rally ground. There, community leaders, activists, artists, and allies speak and perform. The crowd is something else: every identity, every age, people from every Indian city. A lot of international visitors come too, as Delhi Pride gets more well-known. The whole thing — the colors, the costumes, the handmade signs, the dancing — looks unlike anything else in South Asia.

Delhi Pride still feels very political, more so than other, purely celebratory events. Delhi was the center of the Section 377 fight for seventeen years. The lawyers, activists, and petitioners who pushed that struggle are deeply connected to the Pride organizers. So the speeches at the November rally link the celebration to the ongoing work for full legal equality. Same-sex marriage, adoption rights, anti-discrimination laws — these are the current campaigns. Pride is the moment each year when their urgency is most publicly declared.

The 2026 parade is expected to be one of the largest ever, building on recent years’ momentum. The march itself takes about two hours, start to rally. After, people spread out to Delhi’s LGBTQ+-friendly spots. Kitty Su at The LaLiT is the obvious place to go for evening celebrations. Hotels in central Delhi fill up fast around Pride; book at least two or three months ahead. November weather in Delhi is perfect: cool, dry, and clear. It’s one of the best months to be in the city.
