It's okay, period. It could be better. The location is good, a little outside the city center for some tastes, but well-connected and quick to get around. It's ideal for fish lovers, surrounded by restaurants and just two or three blocks from Tsukiji Market. A few things to note: the hotel has a small (4-person) fish restaurant on the ground floor. There's usually a slight smell of food in the morning. Some might find that good, others bad. More than a hotel, it functions almost like a guesthouse above another establishment. While the owners are very friendly, communication is limited by the language barrier, and it doesn't operate much like a typical hotel (like most other hotels). If you ask for fresh towels, they'll change them, but if you don't ask, they won't. The same goes for room cleaning and linens. There are no amenities of any kind. They're very strict about the check-in time (5 PM). We arrived at 4:10 PM and couldn't access our room, but they did accept our luggage. However, when we checked out, they charged us to leave it for a few hours... In short, it's not bad, but it could be much better. We chose this hotel because the room was a bit larger than average in Tokyo and because the price was slightly better than others. A few small details could be improved significantly (a blackout curtain would be fantastic).
Cute old couple taking care of the place, they are really sweet. The rooms are huge a compared to japanese average. You need to remove your shoes to go inside the hotel and wear their slippers. The check-in time is a bit late at 5PM but considering 4PM is the norm there, its okay Locations is amazing, lot of restaurants to eat around, Ginza is 10 min walk, sumida riverfront 8 min walk, metro is just 300 mts from the place
Fantastic location
The hosts were incredibly friendly!!! The room was brand new and clean! The location was good, with several good quality local restaurants nearby! However, if you're traveling with a lot of luggage, it's worth noting that accessing the rooms via the stairs is difficult.
Very nice hotel, unfortunately no elevator and very narrow stairs. But clean and large for Tokyo.
I had a really lovely stay at Ginnan Hotel. The room was spotless, well-maintained, and had everything you’d expect from a comfortable stay. You can tell a lot of care goes into keeping the place clean and properly equipped. What really stood out to me was the hospitality. The hotel is run by an older couple who are genuinely kind and welcoming. They made the stay feel warm and personal, which is something you don’t often get at bigger hotels. If you’re looking to support a small, family-run place with great attention to detail and heartfelt service, I’d definitely recommend staying here.
Had such a lovely stay here! The couple that runs it are so nice and the rooms are super clean and comfortable. We had a 3-4 person bedroom, the room was fully equipped with everything from shower, toilet, sink. Right outside our door there was a washing machine too! Also a air-conditioning machine in the room. Very close to Tsukiji station and walkable distance to main Ginza shopping district. Would love to stay again the next time I go to Tokyo.
