Rainbow March Sapporo is one of Japan's oldest regional pride events, held in Hokkaido's capital city since 1996. Sapporo's wide, grid-planned streets — a legacy of its Meiji-era design — make for a strikingly photogenic parade route, and the event has quietly grown into a beloved institution in northern Japan's LGBTQ+ community.
