HOTEL GROOVE SHINJUKU, A PARKROYAL Hotel

I loved this hotel. Everything was excellent. The name says it all, it is groovy, alive and the staff always helpful and polite. In Shinjuku area, Tokyo.

We stayed at this hotel and had a truly positive experience. The property is modern, elegant, and very well-maintained, while the staff was extremely welcoming, kind, and always available. The rooms were impeccably clean and offered splendid views of the city, especially in the evening. We upgraded from the basic room, and despite this, the rooms were still quite small. However, it's worth putting this into context: by Tokyo standards, the size is absolutely adequate, so it's something to consider without actually being a flaw. Another great advantage is the location. The hotel is located in a lively area of ​​Shinjuku and is very convenient for the subway, allowing for easy travel throughout Tokyo. Overall, I would recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone looking for a modern, clean hotel in a great location for exploring the city.

Where do I start? The location is excellent! We were pretty much within a 5–10 minute walk of everything in Shinjuku, with plenty of little convenience stores and restaurants just downstairs, all within a 1–2 minute walk. We booked the Twin Deluxe Room and were pleasantly surprised by how generous the size was. There was plenty of space to open both of our suitcases comfortably, and the designers have really made the most of every inch of the room without making it feel cramped. We were also lucky enough to have a lovely view & see the most beautiful sunset The staff and service were exceptional. For a 4-star hotel, they certainly provide 5-star service. The staff helped us with our bags all the way to the taxi rank, which was a really nice touch. One of my small perfume sample vials was accidentally broken, and the manager personally came to apologise and even replaced it for me. Honestly, it wasn’t necessary, but it showed just how attentive they are and how much they genuinely care about their guests. Overall, a fantastic stay. Great location, spacious rooms and exceptional service. We would definitely stay here again!

We have just completed our stay at the Groove Hotel, and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We loved the hotel’s contemporary design and vibrant Tokyo atmosphere, as well as the excellent amenities, attentive service, and high-quality breakfast. The views from our rooms were particularly impressive and added a special touch to our stay. The hotel is located in a lively yet exceptionally well-connected part of Shinjuku, surrounded by an impressive selection of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and shopping options. Although the area is known for its nightlife and is considered one of Tokyo’s red-light districts, we found it comfortable and easy to navigate. As a family travelling with two teenagers, we never felt uneasy or out of place. Unless you are specifically seeking that type of entertainment, it is unlikely to have much impact on your stay. We occasionally noticed people promoting nearby venues, but it was never intrusive, and simply continuing on our way was enough. The neighbourhood is energetic and full of character, with concerts, food stalls, and a lively atmosphere well into the evening. It may not be the ideal choice for travellers seeking a quiet, residential setting, but for those who enjoy being surrounded by the energy of Tokyo and appreciate excellent transport connections, the location is hard to beat. We travelled as two adults and two teenagers and reserved one King Deluxe room and one Twin Deluxe room. Both rooms were comfortable and thoughtfully designed, with excellent views and a stylish, modern atmosphere. Breakfast was generous and varied, although guests should be aware that there may be a short waiting time during busy periods, particularly on weekends. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would warmly recommend the Groove Hotel to couples, families, and anyone wishing to experience the energy of Tokyo from a stylish and exceptionally convenient base.

We appreciate the very clean rooms with the lovely view of the city, nice comfortable beds and well laid out rooms with nice amenities. The friendly staff and great location in the Shinjuku area also made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast had a lot of variety and the options we tried were delicious. If we’re ever back in the Shinjuku area, we’d stay here again. Highly recommend. Well done!

I have no words to describe my experience at this hotel. The views were incredible, the hotel staff welcomed us with a drink and accompanied us to everything we needed, even to the taxi door.

The hotel looks great from the outside, but the service is abysmal for the price. They wouldn't even bring our ordered food upstairs and didn't inform us that it had arrived – you can imagine how cold delivery food tastes after sitting for half an hour (it's important to mention that the hotel restaurants only stay open until 10 pm). For me, such service is the bare minimum in such an expensive hotel, but hey – they even had two robots ready to bring everything to the rooms – it just seems a bit petulant to me. In addition, there was no coffee machine, which is standard in all the other Japanese hotels that cost less than half the price. They even had traditional tea, and the service was wonderful. There was room service, which this hotel doesn't offer. Furthermore, after the first night, I can say that the bed really feels like it came from a youth hostel. I woke up with extreme back pain, even though we booked a very expensive suite. It's simply two single beds pushed together that constantly slide apart, like in a youth hostel, even though that's not even standard here in Japan. In all our other hotels, which were considerably cheaper, sometimes costing more than half the price, the beds were really high quality. I just can't understand how such an expensive hotel can put so little effort into its service and furnishings. It's worth mentioning that above this already very expensive premium hotel is an ultra-premium hotel, owned by the same proprietors. It seems to me as if they're artificially downgrading the lower hotel so they can offer things that are actually basic amenities in the upper one (although I don't even know if the services there are any better). Personally, I'd describe it as the Gucci effect: dazzlingly beautiful on the outside, but cheap at the core. It's a beautiful, wonderful property with an incredible view, but the interior is absolutely worthless for the extremely high price – no service, no decent furniture (the mattress, bed, and blanket all look incredibly cheap). Next time, I'd choose a hotel that doesn't rely on flashy glitz but on quality.
