Ratna Park

Ratna Park is a public park in central Kathmandu next to the old Ratna Park bus station, near Rani Pokhari and Tundikhel and about 15 to 20 minutes' walk from Thamel. It has long been known locally as a place where gay men meet and cruise discreetly, mostly in daytime and early evening around its quieter edges. Nepal's 2007 Supreme Court ruling gave LGBTQ+ people legal recognition, but Kathmandu is socially conservative, and the park is busy with families, commuters and police. Nothing here is open or explicit. Go in daylight, keep phone and cash secure, be wary of anyone asking for money, and treat it as an occasional meeting spot rather than a reliable scene.
