Herman Bang's Grave

Denmark's largest and also one of the most beautiful we have, you can easily spend an hour or two here.

Really nice to cycle through if you just need to take a shortcut into town. On the other hand, it has been closed to cyclists for a number of months now. I miss cycling through it, but hopefully they will open up again soon🙏 very beautiful in all seasons.

Visited it during 2023 CPH Light festival.

I always like to stop at a cemetery when I travel. This one is very large and well-maintained. I went there by bicycle. The tree-lined paths are majestic. There are benches everywhere for taking a break. Not very crowded.

A historical oasis in Copenhagen. Many good paths to walk on - also by bike. The gravestones of historical figures are interesting and thought-provoking.

Vestre Kirkegård is definitely worth a visit if you want to experience how an area with so many stories meets the people of Copenhagen and their need for green space. Vestre Kirkegård is for both the living and the dead. There is room for grief, loss and deep thoughts, but still room to enjoy the silence, go for a walk or just experience Scandinavia's largest cemetery, with an area of ​​approximately 54ha! Vestre Kirkegård contains many types of graves: family graves, urn plots, burial chapels and special sections (Faroese, Greenlandic, Muslim, Catholic and Jewish). There is also a section for members of the Salvation Army. The cemetery is actually so large that there are no fewer than three chapels in the cemetery, the North, South and East Chapels. The South Chapel, known as the Star Path project, created by the Danish architectural firm Schønherr, is unfortunately closed. I really hope that some money will be spent on making this area beautiful again.
