About this place Gayhane @ SO36

Gayhane (House of Halay) is a queer party at SO36, the long-running non-profit club and concert hall on Oranienstraße in Kreuzberg. The music mixes Turkish, Arabic, Greek and Balkan pop with mainstream hits, and the crowd is young and mixed: gay, trans, queer people from Berlin's Turkish and Arab communities, and their friends. Expect belly dance and drag performances. It runs roughly once a month on a Saturday. SO36 itself hosts concerts and other parties the rest of the time, so check the SO36 calendar for the next Gayhane date.

Can be over crowded, great venue otherwise

Lagwagon really delivered. The best part: the band was close to the audience, and there was only footsteps at the entrance. I think it's great there.

Great evening yesterday at the 'dancing with tears in your eyes 80 party'. Nice atmosphere, not too stuffy. Sometimes the music is a bit too one-sidedly disco-like, but the later it gets in the evening, the better it gets. The DJ then switches to more of a new wave style.
