via Stay22About this place Ellington Hotel
The Ellington is a gay hotel in Schöneberg, a neighborhood that really comes alive at night.
This is a big hotel: 285 rooms. And old, for Berlin. The facade, Art Deco, went up in 1931; Erich Mendelsohn, a famous Berlin architect, designed it. Inside, it’s all modern, though. You get air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and a minibar. All the bathrooms are en-suite, some with showers, some with tubs.
Downstairs, there’s a restaurant, a gym, and more than 50 parking spots. Most people, though, are here for Schöneberg itself.
The Ellington sits just a short walk from the neighborhood’s gay bars and clubs. You’re right in it, which is the whole point of staying here. It makes for a comfortable, stylish base, especially if you plan on experiencing Berlin’s gay culture.

It's very centrally located ☺
Four stars for a four-star hotel in a prime Berlin location. Despite the pandemic, the team was friendly and relaxed, the open kitchen was fantastic, and the bar staff were great. We had a great time! Update April 2024: The hotel has unfortunately closed.
In 2019, I visited Berlin: a truly international and cosmopolitan city! You can really enjoy everything in 360 degrees: art, parks, monuments, shops, the Biopark, music, shopping centers, restaurants... and (almost) everything for every budget! The hotel where I stayed, the Ellington Hotel Berlin, was decorated with photographs of jazz greats, and the entire atmosphere made me feel the rhythm. Modern, clean, airy rooms and an excellent breakfast buffet. The hotel is located in one of Berlin's most beautiful areas and is very close to the main public transport hubs leading to the city center.
