About this place Scandic Berlin Kurfürstendamm

On Augsburger Straße, this 217-room hotel works as a gay-friendly home base for one of Europe's best LGBTQ+ cities.

The building has history. It was the privately owned Alster-Hof from 1967 until 2014, when the Scandic chain bought it. That's a design-focused brand, and you see their work in the foyer and breakfast rooms, where tree murals and other natural elements keep the space feeling current. But the hotel still has a breezy, semi-mainstream look overall.

Plenty of Berlin hotels welcome LGBTQ+ travelers. This one's a fine option, comfortable and practical. Scandic, as a brand, does a good job with modern amenities and service.

Being on Kurfürstendamm means you can get to Berlin's shopping, restaurants, and museums easily. If you're here for the nightlife, the culture, or just the city's creative vibe, this mid-sized hotel is a solid place to stay. It’s got that blend of old Berlin and new Scandic updates, which feels right.

Incredible experience! My daughter and I stayed at the Scandic Hotel on Kurfürstendamm for a few days in May 2026. Our room was perfect for a city break, the breakfast was plentiful, fresh, and child-friendly, and the location was ideal for exploring Berlin. We had some truly wonderful days. Then, her beloved stuffed animal was left behind at the hotel. For days, it was a real drama. Thanks to a fantastic search effort by the Scandic team, the little bunny reappeared and began its journey home. What happened next was truly remarkable. Along with the sorely missed toy, the package contained a lengthy letter showing the bunny throughout the hotel and describing its adventures and its joy at being home. This brought a huge smile to the faces of not only my daughter but also many people around her. This is truly great service with heart. Many thanks to the entire team!!!
