This gay-friendly restaurant, deep in Berlin’s Tiergarten, feels like a genuine escape. If you're walking the park, hitting the zoo, or just exploring the city, it’s a good spot to eat and drink.
The place has history. It's been on this patch since 1954, started by the Fistler family. Before that, it was an ice cream kiosk, serving parkgoers and boat passengers. So hospitality here goes way back.
They do traditional German food in a cozy, lodge-like room. Expect wurst, big soups, schnitzels, pasta, and salads. The cooking is better than you might think for a park restaurant; it’s a real place to eat, not just somewhere for a quick bite. It’s casual, welcoming everyone looking for old-school Berlin.
For LGBTQ+ travelers, it’s a comfortable place to get classic German food without any fuss. And being right in the Tiergarten, it’s a natural break in a day of sightseeing or relaxing in one of Berlin’s best green spaces. Check their website for hours and what's seasonal.

The Alsatian tarte flambée is more like a thin, baked pizza with chives, the meat salad is just okay... but beer (both bottled and on tap (lager and pilsner)), service is quick and attentive, and the atmosphere is fantastic thanks to the different areas.
Great beer garden in the heart of Berlin, interesting and diverse crowd. Mostly self-service, the tarte flambée was delicious. We'll be back.
Nice atmosphere and quite large, but far too expensive for the quality of the food. Very greasy and with mediocre taste.
Good mood in beautiful weather
Nice place to sit, delicious food (especially the remoulades and salads!)
A very nice beer garden with ample self-service at four or more stations. Hot food is brought to your table. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service was efficient. The breaded schnitzel was very, very tasty, as were all the accompanying dishes. It definitely justifies the price.
