The hotel is suitable for an overnight stay as part of a business trip, but not for tourism. Although each room is designed for only three people, it is comfortable and clean down to the smallest detail. The windows are soundproof, and the air conditioning works perfectly even on a hot day with 38 degrees Celsius. The internet works better on a mobile phone than on a tablet. Free parking is available via the app. It's a 15-minute walk to the business/shopping district. The stairwell and hallway felt like a barracks. There were no paintings, and the carpets were old. Even the carpet in the room was worn and smelled unpleasant. The dining room is in the reception area. The chairs and tables were unsuitable for a hotel. I realized upon arrival that I was staying in an older Ibis hotel, so I'm not complaining, especially considering the good price.

Around 9 pm at check-in, the receptionist was already in a foul mood, which she didn't seem to mind sharing with the guests. I got to my room and found orange stains on both sides of the pillow. Not small, easily overlooked stains, and not even a pale yellow, but bright, round ones. The carpet seemed to have seven different colors, only one of which was intentional. The toilet was a direct copy of the one on the plane, and it wasn't clean either. When I saw this, I asked for a new room, but there was no one at reception. After half an hour, it was still unattended. I grabbed my clothes and slept on the floor. The next day, I went straight to reception and asked for a partial refund. When I explained the problems, the receptionist quickly told me that what I was saying wasn't true (I'm still stunned by that statement). Then I offered to let her take a look at the room, and after inspecting it (after she'd already served seven other customers), she said that everything was normal except for the pillows. I said I wanted to speak to the manager immediately because this was unacceptable, to which she replied that she was the manager. I didn't get my money back! However, I did receive a subtle insult and was kicked out of the facility during the conversation. Absolutely fantastic!!!!

Basic as expected

The hotel is exactly what you'd expect. Small room, shower and toilet in the closet. You basically live out of a suitcase. Perfectly adequate for just sleeping.

It's an Ibis Budget hotel. You should adjust your expectations accordingly. The air conditioning works and the bathroom facilities are fine. As others have mentioned, if you arrive by car, you have to scan a QR code at reception to avoid parking tickets. This is valid for 24 hours.

The capsule program wasn't for me. However, the place was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And the price was very good. Booking on-site is easy, with free parking and tons of information available before booking. The staff was excellent. Cleanliness and breakfast were also great. At €11.50, it's not cheap, but unlimited coffee from a machine makes up for the price.

We were greeted and welcomed very warmly. Since the hotel was fully booked and there was a large group, we skipped breakfast on Sunday morning. However, the friendly lady told us we could have breakfast on Monday morning. Unfortunately, we were then informed this morning that there wouldn't be enough for everyone and we were sent to the bakery next door. But it was closed on Whit Monday (even though there was a sign saying it was only open from 8-11 am on holidays). The rooms were very functional and equipped with the essentials. Unfortunately, there were no electrical outlets on either side of the bed. (I have a device that needs power to sleep.) The carpet took some getting used to, but I always bring slippers. There were only two towels for the shower; a small third one for the extra sink would have been nice (which I actually appreciated, since it was separate from the shower and toilet). The bedding had a few unidentifiable stains, but they were probably old and had been washed several times. The walls weren't as clean and white as they used to be; they could definitely use a fresh coat of paint. I appreciated the air conditioning, as you can't leave the window facing the street open due to the constant traffic. The free parking for guests around the corner is also worth mentioning! A real bonus in the heart of Duisburg, especially if you arrive back at the hotel late. And it's easy to use with the provided QR code. Please don't expect a 5-star hotel; that would be unfair given the reasonable prices! It's perfectly adequate for a 2-3 night stay. It's functional, after all. There's always room for improvement, though.
