Nice place, best location and affordable
Good value for good price, located directly in the City center.
Honestly, I can't understand the bad reviews. I had originally booked a private apartment in Gelsenkirchen for two nights and could hardly believe my eyes when I arrived. The apartment was full of older men, the mattress was terrible for my back, and I felt very uncomfortable overall. As a young woman, I certainly didn't want to sleep among strange men. There was no TV or kitchen in the apartment either. My mom was also eager for me to get out of there as quickly as possible! So, I spontaneously looked for another solution and called the Good Morning Hotel to ask about a room available for two nights. Luckily, they had a room. I booked immediately and paid on the spot. The room was good, the beds were very comfortable, and I also enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel and room were well-maintained and clean. I would definitely stay there again.
The location is great and the service was very friendly, however, when we asked at breakfast if there were any vegan options, we were told "yes, quite a lot in fact," and then they listed cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. In the room itself, some of the walls were stained, and an unidentifiable insect was crawling on the lampshade. The soundproofing wasn't great either; I woke up to very loud voices shouting in the hallway. My partner wanted to go to the bathroom, and the doorknob had fallen off, and the towels already had stains before we even used them. I don't know if we're being too picky, but I think you can expect a certain level of quality for €56. It wasn't a nightmare, but it's not quite good value for money.
The room, especially the bathroom and bedding, was clean. The staff was very friendly and recommended restaurants and bars. However, the rooms are very basic and a bit dated. Towels were clean, soft, and plentiful. The hotel has an elevator and a coffee machine in the lobby. If you're looking for a centrally located hotel with bus and train connections and within walking distance of the city center, this is the place for you.
