Mercure Hotel Luebeck City Center

Very nice hotel, excellent welcome and very helpful staff. Perfect breakfast.

Excellent infrastructure; you can get to the city quickly, the main train station is three minutes away, and there's a super-fast connection to the motorway.

The receptionist didn't speak English well. He couldn't understand my question on whether or not the room had a fridge. He did not know what a fridge or refrigerator is. I emailed to ask if there will be parking, before booking, he said that they can't guarantee that there would be a spot, but since there are spots right in front and underground, I thought I would find one. But I had no such luck. So I paid 20 euros extra to park it elsewhere. The receptionist didn't know that there is a parking right in front of the hotel to send me there, so, instead, he recommended ones that were either closed or far from the hotel and full as I went there without finding a single spot. I found the parking which is at the end of the street in front of the hotel, by myself after driving around the city for a good 15 minutes. Also, I became a member to get a better price for the room but none of the things that are supposed to be offered to members, happened, like offering a welcoming drink (not that I wanted it but still I must say that).

A lovely hotel in a very good location. The room was quite unique, though a bit small. You could only walk sideways between the bed and the wall. Perhaps the TV placement could be improved. I insisted on a quiet room. I can imagine that facing the bus station wouldn't be very pleasant.

Good hotel in central Lübeck within walking distance of most things. The rooms along the street are quiet from the road. Generous and fresh breakfast. A little overstocked which meant it ran out quickly, but the staff refilled it immediately if you asked.

3 minutes from the train station towards the old town, 6 minutes to the Holsten Gate... what more could you want? The staff were all very friendly. The room was functional, like in any other hotel, but not exactly cozy. The "view" of the courtyard wasn't all that great, but at least it was quiet. The breakfast concept, intended to prevent food waste, is understandable for the reasons mentioned, but poorly executed. No chance of getting a whole-grain roll or a croissant. The mini-bowls with egg salad, fruit salad, cherries, Bircher muesli, or chia pudding—despite being visibly placed outside—weren't refilled during the more than an hour I was there on Sunday morning. So, if you're not there when the buffet starts, you only get what the first guests have left. For that reason, breakfast is simply overpriced. It's a shame there's no longer a proper hotel bar. While you can sit in a nice area and order drinks and snacks at reception, it's not the same as a proper bar with a bartender. Apparently, all the guests felt the same way, as the area was hardly used, if at all.
