The honest summary: Wiesbaden has one gay bar, one big monthly queer party and a Pride that comes earlier than almost anyone else's. The bar is Bistro Bar Trend, a small smoking pub at the Römertor. The party is Let's Go Queer! at the Kulturzentrum Schlachthof, usually on the first Saturday of the month. Pride is CSD Wiesbaden at the end of May. There is no gay sauna, no gay club and no gay district. Hesse's state capital is a spa town of about 289,000 people, and for anything bigger most locals take the S-Bahn to Frankfurt.
Legal in one line: Same-sex marriage has been legal in Germany since 1 October 2017, anti-discrimination law covers sexual orientation and gender identity, and since November 2024 the Self-Determination Act lets people change their legal gender by declaration at the registry office.
Where the scene actually is
Wiesbaden does not have a gay street. Older guides (ours included, until this update) put the scene on Langgasse, Kranzplatz or Taunusstraße; we could not find a single current source for that. In practice the queer city has three anchors that are a 15-minute walk apart: Trend at Am Römertor on the western edge of the Altstadt, the Schlachthof behind the Hauptbahnhof, and the association Warmes Wiesbaden, whose meetings, counselling and youth group run from different addresses in the centre.
The city itself keeps a useful LSBTIQ section on wiesbaden.de, with lists of meeting points, parties and regular groups. It is the most reliable local registry and the first place to check before a trip.
The bar: Bistro Bar Trend
Bistro Bar Trend (Am Römertor 7) is the only bar in Wiesbaden that calls itself gay. The city's meeting-points page describes it as a place "for gays, lesbians and all open-minded people", and TravelGay lists it among its Wiesbaden gay bars. Don't expect a club. It is a small pub with draught beer, a few tables outside by the old Roman gate, and two owners behind the bar whom regulars mention by name. Smoking is allowed inside.
Opening times differ between sources. Google currently lists Monday to Saturday from 17:00 to midnight, until 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and Sundays closed. TravelGay gives daily opening from 15:00. Check before you go, especially on a Sunday.
The city's list also names a handful of mainstream places as queer-friendly: Café Klatsch, the Kreativfabrik, c/o Bar and the Badhaus bar (Bad.Haus.1520), which hosts the irregular RABBIT party. They are welcoming, not gay venues. Warmes Wiesbaden holds its monthly Stammtisch at a bar called Das 60/40; we could only confirm that from one source, so ask the association for the current meeting place.
Parties
- Let's Go Queer! is the city's main queer night: the Kesselhaus at the Schlachthof (Murnaustraße 1), almost always on the first Saturday of the month from 23:00, run with Warmes Wiesbaden since 2011.
- HOMOGEN is a queer rave (house, trance, techno) at the Schlachthof several times a year.
- RABBIT runs at Badhaus.1520 on irregular dates. Follow the party on Instagram.
- "Gay Sunset Bar at Elysium": this is a bar at a gay hotel on Mykonos. It was never in Wiesbaden. Our old listing was wrong and has been removed.
- "Café Lenz" as a gay bar: Lenz on Wagemannstraße is a cocktail bar, not a gay venue. An earlier version of this guide got that wrong.
- "WOOF Wiesbaden" and a gay "Club Sauna" in the old town turn up in AI-written summaries and directories. We found no real trace of either.
- Getting there: Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is about 35 km away. S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run directly from the airport station to Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof in about 30 to 40 minutes.
- Frankfurt and Mainz: Frankfurt's gay quarter around Alte Gasse is 40 minutes away by S-Bahn. Mainz is across the Rhine, 10 to 15 minutes by train, and has two gay bars of its own.
- Where to stay: the Kurhaus and Kranzplatz area is the prettiest base; the hotels around the Hauptbahnhof are closest to the Schlachthof and the trains. See our Wiesbaden hotels; they are mainstream hotels, none of them gay-owned.
- Nights out: plan around the first Saturday of the month if you want a party. Other nights, Trend is the plan.

Pride: CSD Wiesbaden
CSD Wiesbaden is organised by Warmes Wiesbaden e.V. and takes place at the end of May, about two months before Frankfurt's CSD. It was held on 25 May 2024, 31 May 2025 (the 13th edition) and 30 May 2026. The march starts at Warmer Damm by the Staatstheater, stops for a rally at the Rathaus and ends at the Schlachthof and Kulturpark, where a summer festival with a drag show carries on into the night. In 2026 the police counted about 3,700 marchers (hessenschau). The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing; expect a Saturday at the end of May.
In January, the Homonale queer film programme runs at the Caligari FilmBühne, the city's art-house cinema on Marktplatz. It is listed on our Wiesbaden events page when dates are out.
Community and health
Warmes Wiesbaden e.V., founded in 2011, is the city's largest LGBTIQ association, with about 150 members. Besides CSD and Let's Go Queer! it runs coming-out counselling ("Die Bunte Nummer"), SCHLAU workshops in schools, the Birds of Pride youth group for ages 15 to 27, a running group and summer boat trips on the Rhine. If you are moving to Wiesbaden, start there.
Aidshilfe Wiesbaden (Karl-Glässing-Straße 5) offers HIV and STI counselling and support. The city lists office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 to 14:00. Call 0611 302436 for testing dates and PrEP advice.
Saunas, cruising and the spa town question
There is no gay sauna in Wiesbaden. One online directory lists a "Club Sauna" at Häfnergasse 3, but that is the address of the Badhaus bar and nothing else backs it up. The famous thermal baths are mainstream. The Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme on Langgasse is a historic Roman-Irish bath where nudity is the norm, with a women's day on Tuesday, but it has no men's or gay day. For gay saunas, go to Frankfurt, about 40 minutes away.
We found no current, well-sourced outdoor cruising area in Wiesbaden, and two adult shops that one directory describes as cruisy have no second source. We don't list them.
