Vlychada Beach

Vlychada is a long dark-sand beach on the south coast, about 11 km from Fira, backed by pale cliffs that wind has cut into odd shapes. Travel Gay and Queer in the World both name it as the beach gay visitors favour. There's no official gay section and nothing is run for a gay crowd. OSM and beach guides mark part of it as nudist, but we couldn't find an official designation, and Greek law on public indecency still applies, so cover up if asked. Rockfall is a real risk across the island: keep away from the base of the cliffs.
