Great service and both lamb and seafood dishes. Vegetables are a star in each presentation. Kamb rack great. Hummus appetizers and nuts with rosemary! Desserts also excellent. We’re going back for their duck special. I loved the peppermint tea.

I’m a local, so I know Reykjavík isn’t exactly famous for cheap beer. But Apotek has managed to take beer pricing into a completely different tax bracket. Two 0.4 L beers in the sunshine: ISK 4,390. That’s ISK 2,195 (about US$18) for a single glass of beer. For a moment I wondered if I’d accidentally ordered the beef steak instead of the beer. I honestly think this is the most I’ve ever paid for an ordinary beer anywhere in the world. Even the staff quietly agreed the price was hard to defend. I´ve eaten here before and the food is actually good, but I´m afriad this experience completely overshadowed it. My recommendation? Eat here if you like—but unless your beer budget is sponsored by an oil company, you might want to have your drinks somewhere else first.
