We had the premium tasting menu and each course was perfectly curated and absolutely delicious. The staff were wonderfully kind and professional. One of the best dining experiences of my life.

We had the premium tasting menu and left disappointed. The quality of the seafood was excellent, but the menu felt more like a collection of popular dishes than a showcase of the chef’s vision. The soft-shell crab and cheesecake were highlights, but the sushi rice was underwhelming, the beef tataki was a bit tough, and several dishes lacked the refinement we expected for the price. The biggest disappointment was the pacing—we were served the entire tasting menu in about 45 minutes, making the experience feel rushed rather than enjoyable. Friendly service, but overall the tasting menu didn’t justify the cost. I’d consider returning to order à la carte, but I wouldn’t recommend the tasting menu.

When happiness touches the palate Reykjavík has been closely connected to the sea for centuries. Even the first settlers lived from fishing and respect for the treasures of the North Atlantic. This very heritage seems to live on at Fiskmarkaðurinn to this day – interpreted in a modern way, but with palpable passion. My warmest compliments go to the entire kitchen team. I was deeply impressed by the precision, creativity, and dedication with which fish and seafood are prepared here. Every course was a small work of art. The oysters, the raw tuna fillet, the caviar, and the Asian-inspired creations not only delighted the eye but also made the palate sing. The service was equally exceptional. The staff know their dishes down to the smallest detail, advise with genuine enthusiasm, and even try to accommodate special requests. "Gestur er guðs gjöf, og góður matur sameinar hjörtu." (A guest is a gift from God, and good food unites hearts.) Rarely has a quote so aptly described a restaurant visit. I also found it particularly wonderful that many dishes are perfectly suited for people with allergies, such as those with celiac disease. This shows that the food here is not only excellent, but that the needs of the guests are also carefully considered. Yes, the restaurant is on the pricier side. But exceptional quality, the finest ingredients, and genuine skill are worth it. If we're honest, no one who works with such passion every day would undervalue their own efforts. There are those rare moments on a trip that you never forget. For me, this evening was one of those moments. I sat there with a huge smile on my face and felt a joy that is almost impossible to put into words. In fact, tears of happiness welled up in my eyes. I would have loved to simply thank the chef and his entire team from the bottom of my heart—or even hug them in sheer delight. Yes, the restaurant is on a budget. In conclusion: Fiskmarkaðurinn is so much more than just a restaurant to me. It's a place brimming with passion, hospitality, and culinary magic. We will definitely be back. P.S. I feel very let down by my experience at the fish market. The food was fine, but for someone that knows what good Japanese food and fusion food tastes like, it seems like a poor attempt at what Nobu can do. The big letdown, though, was a couple of things: - The servers seemed quite miserable. It might be that it was a sunny day and they had to work - This was the only restaurant where I was asked to leave a tip during payment but it was uncommon in Iceland, and we did not see this anywhere else. - I feel quite ripped off by the experience. There are other places I would eat instead. It was a highly expensive meal, not at all worth it, and I would not go back and not recommend it.

We had the Premium Tasting Menu, and every single course was absolutely delicious and wonderfully prepared. A special thanks to our waiter, Johann, who provided exceptional service. He was attentive, friendly, and tailored his service uniquely to us, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The atmosphere in the restaurant is beautifully stylish and welcoming. Highly recommended if you are in Reykjavík!

Wonderful atmosphere and food! Our server was extremely kind and the staff was generally very attentive the whole night, filling our water pitcher only seconds after finishing it, and pacing the whole meal appropriately:) With my parents we shared two starter menus with the ribeye steak. Best part was definitely the fish starters which were just so fresh! The ribeye was tasty but not the best ive had. The table beside us had two young men waiting to have their orders taken for almost 20 minutes! Felt really bad for them and it was just so strange since we had great service all night..
