Riga Pride
About This Event
Riga Pride is the march through central Riga that ends Pride week, a week of talks, parties and screenings. Mozaīka, Latvia's main LGBTQ+ association, organises it. The event has a hard history. The first marches in 2005 and 2006 ran into city bans, court fights and crowds of egg-throwing protesters. In 2015 Riga hosted EuroPride, the first held in a former Soviet country. Riga also takes turns with Vilnius and Tallinn in hosting the larger Baltic Pride, and last hosted it in 2024. Latvia has recognised registered partnerships since July 2024.
The march is usually on a Saturday in June. It starts and ends in a city-centre park, and the afternoon carries on there with a stage and stalls. Expect a police fence along part of the route and a small group of religious protesters with placards. Recent marches have passed without incidents.
The 2025 march on 28 June drew about 8,000 people by the organisers' count and up to 4,000 by the State Police estimate, LSM reported. Riga's newly elected mayor marched. The 2026 march was held on 13 June, starting and ending at Esplanāde. We couldn't find a reliable headcount for it. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
