Hotel/Bar The Happy Traveler

I stayed here before, and it was lovely. This time I had a different room and it was very noisy. The room was small, it was cold, but the worst thing was the noise all night. The noise came from inside the hotel, from the roof Terrace and also from outside. How much I loved it the first time I stayed here, I will not come back because of my current experience.

Greatly attractively priced hotel in the heart of Groningen with friendly service. We were on bikes and were able to park them safely in their garage. Fun fact: they have a rooftop terrace.

Beautiful studio fully equipped, very hospitable and helpful. We were able to store our bikes. Nicely centrally located in the center of Groningen. The Traveller details are very nice, such as airplane seats and a menu as a passport; in short, too many to mention.

Nice hotel, super friendly owners! Very warm and hospitable. Friendly staff. A great location right in the city center. The rooms are clean and tidy. The rooftop terrace is unique! And yes, there is sometimes a bit of noise on the street, but that is to be expected when you are in the middle of a student city. For me, that has its own charm too. I will definitely come back here again.

Excellent hotel, highly recommended. Very friendly staff, extremely helpful, and absolutely not afraid to go the extra mile! Always proactive and solution-oriented. Fast service; the double Bacardi and Coke is highly recommended, both at the restaurant and on the rooftop terrace. The rooms are always well-maintained, clean, and the beds are good. The location is perfectly situated in relation to various places to have a drink or a bite to eat. The hotel is also nicely decorated; the fact that these people know what they are doing and put time into it shines through everywhere. Not a one-off experience, but I have spent about 20 nights here by now. This experience is no coincidence, but a consistent experience of absolute quality. Oh, and if you are lucky, they will play André Hazes, but sometimes they won't. But the rest more than makes up for this! Once again, highly recommended, because in terms of price as well, you would be crazy not to stay here if you have to spend the night in Groningen.

It is a shame there is no extraction system in the bathroom. You shouldn't come here for silence. It is not a nuisance, but it is noisy from the outside. I missed hanging hooks for towels and tea towels in the studio. I also missed a sink in the bathroom.

Before I say anything else, I will say how friendly the employees of the hotel were! Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that made the stay in the hotel a little hard. The noise of the street was really disturbing. Additionally, the lobby is really tiny and I understand the „plane“ concept but it was really uncomfortable to sit and there was no place to just enjoy a coffee and relax at the same time. We also had some trouble checking in and because there is no space in the lobby, the breakfast was rushed. Still, the location is great, its right in the centre and for a short stay, the hotel is okay.

What an incredibly nice, cozy, and charming hotel this is. The staff are very friendly and immediately make you feel at home. The rooftop terrace is the most beautiful rooftop terrace in all of Groningen. It is right in the heart of the city, so the entire city is within walking distance.
