Groningen Pride 2027

Groningen Pride is the biggest LGBTQ+ party in the northern Netherlands. It's a summer event that feels exactly like the city it’s in: a university town with a young, politically sharp queer community.

COC Groningen runs it, working with student groups. You'll see a parade through the center, festival stuff at the Grote Markt, and nightly events at Groningen’s gay and gay-friendly spots.

Pride here has gotten much bigger lately. The university partnership brought institutional muscle and a broader program to what used to be a smaller, local affair.

The Martinitoren looms in the background. The Grote Markt transforms into a festival ground. A quarter of the city's population are students, and that energy is palpable. This isn't just a party; it's where the future of Dutch LGBTQ+ rights gets debated and built, as much as in Amsterdam.

If you're in the Netherlands in summer 2026, Groningen Pride is a real alternative to Amsterdam WorldPride, which is bigger but also more touristy.
