Skostredet Hotel & Spa Bergen

What a nice and enjoyable experience. This hotel stands out of the crowd of mundane hotels one can find in tourists destinations. First, the architecture and decoration, modern and minimalist, delivers a unique atmosphere of peace and Serenity. The staff is extremely welcoming and always eager to help and support. And with the smile! Rooms are just perfect. Bed, bathroom, furniture, again both comfortible and pleasant to look at. And the breakfast! What a treat. Healthy, tasty, nicely presented. We will definitely come back.

A fabulous experience at Skostredet Hotel. Exactly what we needed after 3 days of camping! The spa is an extra charge per person (approx £40 for hotel guests, slightly more for external) but includes a heated pool, cold plunge, snow room (!), sauna and steam

Beautiful place. Quiet. Great staff and service. Loved our bedroom. Fantastic breakfast. Would certainly recommend. We were visiting from Australia joining the Havala cruise. So close to town and the great gift shops.

Modern and sustainable, tastefully and functionally decorated, with lovely ambiance. Friendly, professional staff, excellent breakfast, indoor and outdoor seating. Central location close to everything, yet blissfully quiet. Good training facility and great spa. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Perfect location in the centre with many bars and restaurants around, as the well as the harbour a few minutes walk away. The airport line (tram) is 5 minutes away. Hotel has a lovely ambiance, and rooms are quaint and cosy. We were worried the smallest room size, 16m2, might be a bit tight, but it was totally fine for the two of us (granted we didn’t have any big luggage). Just missing hooks to hang your towels. My only complaint was the temperature. Norwegian buildings are very well insulated and designed to retain heat. There is no air con, and it was hard to sleep at night - so unfortunately we didn’t sleep well once. And I normally run cold and jam the heating up (and I don’t have air con at home either of course, I’m British, so don’t think this is coming from an American or something). It really was just that warm. Couldn’t leave the window open overnight because it was facing a street of bars that are very noisy until 2am. Only reason I’ve deducted a star. Breakfast is nice, serving a selection of fish, meats, cheeses, pastries and hot food. They only have filter coffee out at the buffet but you can ask for a proper coffee behind the bar free of charge. Note that the spa/pool costs around £40 to enter, it’s not included.

Had an excellent stay here. Location was superb (easy to and from airport) and staff were friendly. The room was spacious and had everything I needed. The bathroom was clean & decently sized. It’s not facing a main road so it was quiet at night. Breakfast selection was really good. There was a very friendly female chef who was saying good morning to all the guests (when even the servers weren’t!) and she made me feel very welcomed every morning. The scrambled eggs were amazing. Overall I would stay here again & would recommend to others!

A very pleasant stay, an ideal location. Only one negative point: the size of our room.

The hotel is generally very nicely and modernly furnished. However, the rooms are too small for a 5-star hotel, the bathroom has very little storage space, and there's no toiletries kit. The bed was soft, but that was about it. The duvets were far too narrow, and the cleanliness left much to be desired. Breakfast was okay, but the bread was also lacking. Now for the spa… Unfortunately, I can't think of anything positive to say about it. The hotel is clearly advertised with its spa. However, it was closed for two days during my stay. I was only informed of this closure one day before my arrival, naturally in such a way that I couldn't cancel my reservation. I had chosen this hotel specifically because of the spa. When I then learned that I would have to pay extra for the spa, I was shocked. One might assume that you would have the spa to yourself, but I had to share it with about 20 to 30 other guests. Consequently, it was often very noisy in the individual treatment rooms. The hotel clearly advertises its spa. In a 5-star spa hotel, I absolutely expect the spa area to be included. This hotel is a good 4-star hotel, but nothing more. The staff was generally good. UPDATE: Unfortunately, I have to deduct all points for service. During my stay, the cleaning staff considered a personal item, which was wrapped in a cardboard tube, to be "trash" and threw it away. That is absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. I definitely expect far better service in a 5-star hotel. I am deeply disappointed and will not be returning to this hotel.
