My recent stay at the Waterfront Lodges was, in many respects, a very enjoyable experience and one that showcased the considerable potential of what could be a truly outstanding destination. The accommodation itself was excellent. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, with several modern touches that elevated it above the standard lodge experience. The inclusion of two smart televisions was particularly welcome, offering flexibility and convenience whether relaxing in bed or enjoying the seating area. An especially impressive feature was the intelligent under-bed lighting system, which gently illuminated the room with a soft, unobtrusive glow whenever someone rose during the night. It is a small detail, but one that demonstrated genuine attention to guest comfort and added a touch of luxury. The real highlight, however, was the private decking area extending directly over the lake. Sitting outside and watching the water from such close quarters was wonderfully relaxing and provided a sense of tranquillity that is increasingly difficult to find. It transformed a pleasant stay into a memorable one. There were, however, aspects of the wider complex that did not quite match the quality of the accommodation. The approach to the site, parking arrangements and general presentation of the exterior areas would all benefit from greater attention. During my visit, many of the available parking spaces appeared to be occupied by newly delivered roof trusses, suggesting that building or refurbishment work may be planned in the near future. If so, that investment is likely to be very worthwhile. Similarly, the advertised bar and restaurant seemed no longer to be operating, which was disappointing, while the reception area appeared somewhat neglected and untidy. These are not major issues in themselves, but they create a first impression that falls short of the standard set by the lodges themselves. What makes this particularly frustrating is that the fundamentals are already in place. The lakeside setting is beautiful, the accommodation is modern and comfortable, and there is a clear sense that significant investment has been made in the guest experience. With a little more attention to the external environment, site presentation and guest facilities, Waterfront Lodges could move from being a good place to stay to a genuinely exceptional one. Despite these reservations, I enjoyed my visit and would happily return. The quality of the accommodation and the wonderful lakeside location more than justify a stay, while leaving a lingering sense that this is a destination capable of becoming something truly special with relatively modest improvements. One feature that added a degree of unexpected charm to the site was the presence of several rescue animals near the car park. It was immediately apparent that these animals are cared for with genuine affection and commitment, and many guests will undoubtedly enjoy seeing them during their stay. Their presence lends the site a distinctive character and reflects a commendable concern for animal welfare. That said, as with some of the wider external areas of the complex, there is a sense that the animals would benefit from more spacious and better-maintained accommodation. Improved enclosures and surroundings would not only enhance their welfare but would also create a more attractive and welcoming feature for visitors. Given the obvious care already invested in them, this feels less like a criticism and more like an opportunity to build upon something that is already a positive aspect of the property.

Lodges are equipped with all you need for an overnight stay. Very comfy bed, tv, mini fridge, kettle , shower, bath, Amazon Hub etc and a microwave in the communal hallway. Pricate enclosed decking area overlooking the fishing lake and birds. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
