Great Sunday Roasts! Dog friendly Perfect country pub

Beautiful pub with a excellent team, great food too which is let down by the cleanliness of the rooms, leaking waterpipes in the kitchen, and as a result, no water in my room. Seems like the staff are doing what they can with very little budget for maintenance. The place would easily gain more stars with some investment and an improved approach from the owner. They were so understaffed that food wasn't being served in the garden, even on a beautiful, hot day! The pub garden was busy and noisey, past midnight, and despite the setting, this was not a restful place to stay. In one of the rooms i stayed (Henley Hill), the kitchen equiptment can be heard humming and revving all night, although i'd guess most people would be able to block that out (I live in an extremely quiet village, so I couldn't). Great potential, but it seems there is no desire or budget to improve. Wishing the best of luck to Elliot, James, Vlad and the team, and passing on my thanks for doing what you could in an ocean of miscommunication. The Steak, the pork belly and the scotch eggs are amazing, with that menu, you wont be dissappointed if you eat here. If you stay here however.....

Lovely place to stay and good food

Went there for lunch and left after more than 30 minutes wait, just to order.

So overpriced! £30 for a roast (inc service) is crazy… also when paying the bill they rounded up the bill without permission which seems really distrustful. I used to love this place but service is slow and not the friendliest.

Another poor performance today. Sat outside for 1 hour with no service. Walk inside for coffee order and intending to order food only to be told there is service outside we just have to wait for someone to come out. Waited another hour with nobody coming outside sat at 12:00, we were there til 14:30 and nothing. We gave number of the table we were on, very unhelpful and useless suspected manager said “that doesn’t help” we also happen to be the only people sitting outside so clearly doesn’t have much capability to pull this level complexity. Looks like this place just goes from bad to worse even with the gaps between going back to check if it had improved. This will be the last time I go back to this place. Doesn’t look like it’ll ever improve. Especially if whoever served us is still working there.

My daughter and I have just had a roast beef lunch there which was good. However when we asked to split the bill of £69.54 (ie £34.77 per person) the waitress just unilaterally rounded the total up to £70 and charged us £35 each without asking if it was okay . This is a small amount of money to overcharge the customer but i felt it's the principle to flag it up on this platform . The service charge is already 12.5% without staff adding on small amounts surreptitiously .

Incredible fish and chips! And stunning walks around!

Amazing pub in the small village with good collection of beer & ales with nice seating options inside and outside. Perfect for family with kids to enjoy a nice meal.

Visited on a walk, busy pub. Nice pub garden. Plenty of people were eating lunch/dinner. Looks like a popular pub. Quick to get served at bar especially considering it was busy. Staff reacted fast to the big sudden amount of people from our walking group.
