Hôtel Krafft Bâle

The room was great. The staff was very friendly. It was a little disorganized. We had to wait quite a while for drinks, even though there were plenty of staff and the place wasn't full. Once, we had just received our drinks when another waiter came to the table about 30 seconds later and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. At first, I thought he was joking, but he was serious. I politely declined and explained that we had just received our drinks. But it's better to be asked than not to be asked at all, so all in all, it was fine. :) I would definitely come back.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel Krafft in Basel and had an absolutely fantastic experience. We booked a double room with a direct view over the Rhine, and waking up to that view every morning was unforgettable. Watching the river flow by, especially at sunrise and in the evening with the city lights reflecting off the water, was worth it alone. The location couldn’t have been better — especially during Basler Fasnacht. We were right in the heart of everything, able to step outside and immediately be part of the celebration, yet the hotel still felt comfortable and welcoming when we returned to relax. The staff was warm and professional, the room was clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere perfectly blended historic charm with modern comfort. If you’re visiting Basel — particularly for Fasnacht — this is the place to stay.

We keep coming back. Beautiful rooms, great location, delicious food, and dog-friendly. Highly recommended.

Simple, cozy spot in a nice area

The experience you get likely depends on the room; some are very small. Street facing rooms face a large construction site at the moment. Taking a shower is a struggle because the bathroom is so tiny that even as a small person you cannot get in or out without touching the sink and toilet. The water temperature is not constant either. Upper floor is noisy and you basically stay between janitor services that start making noise at 7am. Downstairs, the hotel is fancy and all staff was very friendly. Appreciated the breakfast and the coffee and sparkling water. Personally, I would not stay again though, had more comfort in my student dorm room back in the day.

Pretty, historical building. Well appointed with nice details such as nespresso machines and water on every floor. Lovely breakfast in the restaurant space facing the river. Could walk or tram everywhere I wished to go. My twin room was small but nicely designed, fine if you are not planning to be in your room much. Restaurant is not open late. NOTE: If staying in December, a Christmas market takes place on the road that the "city" rooms face. As I stayed over a weekend, I found it very difficult to fall asleep until around 1am due to the partying below. Probably not an issue if in a river room.

Loved our stay here. No complaints at all - every staff member was great and truly professional. The breakfast crew was great. Specially Marc. He was all over it. Spoke several languages , was the most efficient and hardest working person I've seen there to the point he made me tired just watching him work. The mineral water station you have on each floor was the best thing ever !!! After night of drinking it saved my life lol.

Everything is wonderful - as always

First off, the staff is AMAZING and so helpful! They are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The only reason I give them 4 stars is because the room was small and lacked decor. While comfy it felt a little cold. Also construction was our view. I do realize that is not their fault and the staff certainly made up for it.
