Gay Bars & Clubs in Orlando
Orlando is far more than theme parks. The city has a genuine, resilient LGBTQ+ nightlife scene, shaped in part by the legacy of the 2016 Pulse tragedy, that ranges from big dance clubs and drag palaces to cash-only neighborhood bars and a queer country saloon. Unlike some cities, the bars are not all on one block: they cluster across a few districts just north and east of downtown, so a night out usually means one or two rideshares.
Where the Scene Is
The densest concentration of queer nightlife is in the Milk District (around South Street and Bumby Avenue) and the adjacent Mills 50 area. Ivanhoe Village, along North Orange Avenue, is the more upscale, drag-forward pocket, while downtown and Church Street anchor the newest clubs, and College Park keeps a couple of long-loved neighborhood bars.
Orlando's LGBTQ+ Venues
Southern Nights Orlando is the city's largest gay club, a multi-room Milk District institution famous for drag shows, dance floors and themed nights. Its sister venues sit right alongside: District Dive, a laid-back LGBTQ+ dive for a quieter drink and a game of pool, and Stiffy's, a bear and leather bar with a friendly, come-as-you-are crowd.
Savoy Orlando, in Ivanhoe Village, is a long-running nightclub with several distinct rooms and a strong drag calendar, popular with a slightly older, polished crowd. Anthem Orlando opened downtown in 2025 with an explicit mission to honor the Pulse legacy, and has quickly become a flagship gay bar, club and restaurant with performances, DJ sets and a packed weekend calendar.
Hank's Bar in College Park is a cash-only neighborhood gay bar that has served the community for nearly forty years, the kind of unpretentious local where regulars know each other by name. Nearby, Barcodes Orlando is a gay-owned bar with leather and jock nights and a welcoming vibe. On Church Street, Boots is Orlando's queer country and Western bar, with line dancing, two-stepping and live shows for those who want something different from the big clubs.
For the bathhouse crowd, Club Orlando is the city's men-only gay sauna, with a heated outdoor pool, gym, dry sauna and 24-hour access.
When to Go
Friday and Saturday nights are peak, when Southern Nights, Savoy and Anthem fill up with dancers and drag fans. Weeknights are calmer and better for District Dive, Stiffy's or Hank's, where you can actually hold a conversation. Drag brunches, especially at Savoy and Anthem, are a weekend highlight and often sell out, so reserve ahead.
Tips for Your Night Out
Getting there: the districts are spread out, so use Uber or Lyft to move between them, especially if you are drinking. Age: most clubs are 21+, so bring a valid government photo ID. Safety: Orlando is welcoming, but use normal big-city precautions, keep an eye on your drink and travel with friends when you can. Venue staff and security are there to help if you feel uncomfortable.
